Game Recap:
Back in Carolina in for game two, the Hurricanes look to bounce back and ground the Tampa Bay Lightning to even the series at one game a piece. In the first period it would be a rather quiet period with both teams getting some shots on goal, but it wouldn’t until the last ninety seconds where Alex Killorn would be called for holding to give the Canes the first powerplay of the game. the Canes would generate some really solid scoring chances, but they would not be able to capitalize on the opportunity as the game would remain scoreless after twenty minutes of play.
In the second period the Canes would not do much with the final 30 seconds of their powerplay, and then would go to the box themselves as Sebastian Aho would be called for slashing to give the Bolts their first powerplay. However, the Bolts would look flat on the powerplay, but Alex Killorn would score later in the period to give the Lightning the 1-0 lead. The Bolts would get another powerplay chance, but would squander that one as well.
Then in the third period it would be a bit of more of the same as the two teams would battle it out. However, Anthony Cirelli would strike to grow Tampa’s lead to two. The Canes would get one more crack at the powerplay but would fail, however, Andrei Svechnikov would strike late in the period to get the Canes on the board, but it would be too little, too late as the Lightning would hold on to take the 2-1 victory and the 2-0 series lead over the Hurricanes.
