Game Recap:
After getting dominated by the Boston Bruins on Thursday night at home, the Washington Capitals returned the favor by putting up their own dominating performance tonight. In the first period, Washington would get three goals within a span of about two and a half minutes. Capitals goals came from TJ Oshie on the power play, Lars Eller, and Connor Sheary. After the first period, the Capitals would lead the Bruins 3-0.
Period two saw the Capitals continuing to expose the Bruins depleted defense as they added three more goals. Connor Sheary would score his second goal of the game on the power play. Later on in the period, Nic Dowd would fire a laser of a shot that would get by Bruins goalie Dan Vladar. Tom Wilson would shortly after add a power play goal that was assisted by Alex Ovechkin. After two periods, the Caps would lead the B’s 6-0.
In the third period, Boston finally got on the board as Craig Smith scored his eighth goal of the season on the power play. Unfortunately for the Bruins, the Capitals continued to exert their dominance by scoring two more times as they got goals from TJ Oshie and Lars Eller. Each scored their second goal of the game. Washington would win by a final score of 8-1. Vitek Vanacek was rock solid in goal and made 34 saves to earn his seventeenth win of his rookie season.
