Today the National Hockey League announced their Three Stars of the Week for the week of February 8th through 14th.
First Stars – Philipp Grubauer (G – COL) and Maria Saavedra (UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital)
- Grubauer would guide the Colorado Avalanche to a 3-1-0 week where he would record a 1.24 goals against average with a .932 save percentage and one shutout. Against Arizona Grubauer would make 11 saves in a 3-2 loss on March 8th, and then would find redemption against the Coyotes with a 13 save 2-1 overtime victory on March 10th. On March 12th Grubauer would record his fourth shutout of the season when he would make 18 saves against Los Angeles, and then to close out the week he would record 27 saves in a 4-1 victory over the Kings on March 14th.
Second Star – Leon Draisaitl (C – EDM)
- Draisaitl would lead the League with six goals and nine points in four games played for the Oilers. Draisaitl would open the week with a goal in a 3-2 victory over Ottawa on March 8th, and then on March 10th against the Sens he would record three goals and two assists for five points in a 7-1 victory. On March 12th Draisaitl would record another goal and assist against the Sens as the Oilers would win 6-2, and to close out the week against Vancouver on March 13th he would record the lone goal in the Oilers loss to the Canucks.
Third Star – Nikolaj Ehlers (LW – WIN)
- Ehlers would record three goals and three assists for six points to lead the Jets to five out of six standings points, and with all three games being against the Toronto Maple Leafs. To open the week on March 9th Ehlers would record two assists in the Jets 4-3 victory, and then on March 11th he would have tow goals and assist in their 4-3 overtime loss to the Leafs. Then to close out the week on March 13th, Ehlers would pick up one more goal in the Jets 5-2 victory.
