Game Recaps
- New York Rangers v. Boston Bruins – 1p ET
- In Boston for an early afternoon matinee between Original Six rivals, the New York Rangers would face the Bruins. In the first period K’Andre Miller would score for the Rangers to take a 1-0 lead, and in the second period Chris Kreider would strike to grow the Rangers lead to two. Then in the third period Ryan Strome and Pavel Buchnevich would score to give the Rangers the 4-0 victory over the Bruins.
- Dallas Stars v. Columbus Blue Jackets – 5p ET
- In Columbus the Blue Jackets would play host to the Dallas Stars, and in the first period Max Domi would open the scoring for the Jackets, but Andrew Cogliano’s late tally would tie the game at one. Then in the second period Andrej Sekera would score for the Stars to take the one goal lead, but goals from Cam Atkinson and Nick Foligno would give the Jackets the 3-2 lead. In the third period Denis Gurianov would strike for the Stars to tie the game at three and send the game to overtime, but in the extra frame Zach Werenski would score to give the Blue Jackets the 4-3 overtime victory.
- Montreal Canadiens v. Calgary Flames – 7p ET
- In Calgary for Hockey Night in Canada, the Flames would host the Montreal Canadiens. In the first period the Flames would get a pair of goals from Sean Monahan to take the 2-0 lead. Then in the second period Jeff Petry would score for the Habs, but Mikael Backlund’s fifth of the season to give the Flames the 3-1 victory.
- Pittsburgh Penguins v. Buffalo Sabres – 7p ET
- In Buffalo the Sabres and Pittsburgh Penguins would face off, and after a scoreless first period Jake Guentzel would score to give the Pens the 1-0 lead. Then in the third period Sidney Crosby and Mark Jankowski would both score empty netters to give the Penguins the 3-0 victory.
- New York Islanders v. New Jersey Devils – 7p ET
- In New Jersey the Devils would host the New York Islanders, and in the first period Pavel Zacha would open the scoring for the Devils, but Oliver Wahlstrom’s fifth of the season would tie the game at one for the Isles. In the second period Janne Kuokkanen would score to give the Devils the 2-1 lead, but in the third period Kieffer Bellows would net a pair of goals to give the Islanders the 3-2 victory.
- Washington Capitals v. Philadelphia Flyers – 7p ET
- In Philadelphia for the third time this week, the Washington Capitals would face the Flyers. In the first period Daniel Sprong and Carl Hagelin would strike for the Caps to take the 2-0 lead. Then in the second period James van Riemsdyk and Nolan Patrick would score, but goals from Nick Jensen and Alex Ovechkin would keep the Caps two goal lead intact. In the third period Shayne Gostisbehere and Claude Giroux would net late goals for the Flyers, but Nic Dowd’s tally earlier in the period would give the Capitals the 5-4 victory.
- Nashville Predators v. Tampa Bay Lightning – 7p ET
- On a night when the Tampa Bay Lightning would get to finally raise their 2020 Stanley Cup banner in front of their fans, they would host the Nashville Predators. In the first period Tyler Johnson and Mathieu Joseph would score to give the Bolts the 2-0 lead. In the second period Yakov Trenin would score for the Preds, but goals from Alex Killorn and Brayden Point would give the Bolts the 4-1 lead. Then in the third period Alexandre Carrier and Erik Haula would score for the Predators, but Blake Coleman’s sixth of the season would give the Lightning the 6-3 victory on their Banner Raising night.
- Chicago Blackhawks v. Florida Panthers – 7p ET
- In another part of Florida, the Panthers would host the Chicago Blackhawks, and after a scoreless first period Brandon Hagel would open the scoring for the Blackhawks, but tallies from Aleksander Barkov, Carter Verhaeghe, and Frank Vatrano would give the Panthers the 3-1 lead. Then in the third period Adam Boqvist would score for the Blackhawks, but Barkov’s second of the game would give the Panthers the 4-2 victory.
- Winnipeg Jets v. Toronto Maple Leafs – 7p ET
- In Toronto the Maple Leafs and Winnipeg Jets would faceoff, and after a scoreless first period Jake Muzzin and William Nylander would score for the Leafs, and Mason Appleton and Paul Stastny would tally for the Jets to have game be tied at two. Then in the third period Adam Lowry, Nikolaj Ehlers, and Mark Scheifele would score to give the Jets the 5-2 victory.
- Vegas Golden Knights v. St. Louis Blues – 8p ET
- In St. Louis the Vegas Golden Knights would come to town to take on the Blues. In the first period Shea Theodore would score to give the Knights the 1-0 lead. Then in the third period Sammy Blais would score for the Blues, but a pair of goals from Mark Stone, and goals from Max Pacioretty and Alex Tuch would give the Golden Knights the 5-1 victory.
- Edmonton Oilers v. Vancouver Canucks – 10p ET
- In Vancouver, the Oilers take on the Canucks. After a scoreless first, the Canucks get on the board when Bo Horvat gets his 12th goal of the season at 12:59. Edmonton ties the game when Leon Draisaitl gets his 16th goal of the season at 16:59. Tyler Myers gets his fourth goal of the season as the Canucks down the Oilers 2-1.
- San Jose Sharks v. Anaheim Ducks – 10p ET
- In Anaheim, the Sharks look to get their third consecutive win over the Ducks and in the first, Evander Kane gets his 11th goal of the season to give San Jose the 1-0 lead. In the second, Anaheim gets on the board when Max Jones gets his fourth on the season. The Sharks regain the lead when Kevin Lebanc gets his seventh to take the 2-1 lead. In the third, Dylan Gambrell gets his first goal of the season to give the Sharks the 3-1 lead and win.
