Night and Day @ Lake Tahoe: Golden Knights vs Colorado Avalanche recap

Game Recap:

Welcome to the first of two games being played at the famous Lake Tahoe in Nevada. The views before and during the game certainly were breathtaking! Our first matchup features the local Vegas Golden Knights versus the Colorado Avalanche. It would be the visiting Avalanche who would get the scoring started early as Samuel Girard took a cross ice pass from Nathan MacKinnon and fired it behind Golden Knights goalie Marc Andre-Fleury for the 1-0 lead. Girard’s goal would stand after the first period where things got interesting weather wise which affected the resumption of the game.

Due to the melting ice conditions and safety of play, the game was postponed and resumed at 12am EST/9pm PST. After play resumed later on at night, Alec Martinez evened up the score at the 7:27 mark as he put in the rebound on a shot from the point for the Golden Knights. Moments later, Nathan MacKinnon would speed his way down the ice and wrist a shot that would get behind Marc Andre-Fleury to regain the lead for the Avalanche. After two periods, the Avs would have a 2-1 lead over the Golden Knights.

Devon Toewes would expand the lead for Colorado in the third period as he scored his fourth goal of the season as he blasted a shot from the point to make it 3-1 Avalanche. Vegas was able to get within one goal moments later as Alex Tuch added a highlight reel goal as he spinned his way towards the net and backhanded the puck in behind Avs goalie Phillip Grubauer. Unfortunately for Vegas, they weren’t able to get back in the game and lost by a final score of 3-2.
