With the Riveters pulling out of the bubble, a new schedule formed. The Buffalo Beauts and the Boston Pride will now face off in a best of three series to determine the fourth seed in the playoffs.
Bit of news for the Beauts before the game today as forward Kayla Meneghin would leave the bubble for personal reasons.
Here is how the two teams lined up for the game today.
In the first period, both teams would come out strong, trying to establish their game. It was pretty even through the period until the Pride nabbed the lead just before the halfway point in the period, on the power play. The goal coming from Lauren Kelly, scoring on the rebound. The assists on the play coming from Carlee Turner and Taylor Wenczkowski.
In the second period, the Beauts would come out fast to try and tie up the game, and they did just so before the period was five minutes old. The tying goal coming from Autumn MacDougall, the lone assist came from Jordan Juron. The rest of the period would be the Pride trying to get the lead back but Carly Jackson would come up big for the Beauts.
In the third period would see the Pride get themselves into some penalty trouble. Late in the period, the Beauts would find a breakthrough on the power play. The goal coming from Lisa Chesson, a great shot from the high slot beating Lovisa Selander. The assists on the play coming from Jordan Juron, her second point of the game, and Brooke Stacey.
The Beauts would take a late penalty as well, but were able to kill it off and hold on for the victory in Game 1.
