Whale Win In A Shootout

The Whale played their first game today against the Buffalo Beauts. Here were the lineups for today’s game.

In the first period, there were plenty of chances, but the goalies came up with all of the answers. At the end of the first period, both teams were tied at the end of the period. The Whale out-shot the Beauts by a tally of 14-5.

In the second period, the Whale would strike first in the game. The goal coming from Kayla Friesen, with the assist coming from the captain Shannon Doyle. The Whale would take a 1-0 lead heading into the third.

It would take five minutes in the third period for the Beauts to tie the game up. The goal coming from Kristin Lewicki. The assist on the play coming from Alyson Matteau.

The game would end up tied at the end of the period, the game would head into overtime.

In the overtime session, nobody would get the game winner. The game would head to a shootout.

In the shootout there would only be one player who would find the back of the net. It would be the first shooter for the Whale, Katelynn Russ who would find the back of the net. To give the Whale the win.

Abby Ives would face 25 shots and make 24 saves. While Beauts goalie Carly Jackson faced 43 shots and would make 42 saves.
