Vancouver Canucks vs Vegas Golden Knights (VGK leads the series 2-1)
Game Recap:
The Vancouver Canucks and Vegas Golden Knights battle tonight in game 3 to decide who takes control of this series. Vancouver had the majority of the offensive chances in the first period but, were unable to capitalize on the chances that were given to them. The Canucks outshot the Golden Knights 16-9 and had some power play chances which included a 5 on 3 man advantage. However, Vegas was able to get two goals within the first five and a half minutes into the first period. Golden Knights goals came from Alex Tuch and Zach Whitecloud to give their team a 2-0 lead going into the second period.
Despite not adding onto their 2-0 lead, the Golden Knights kept up the pressure and dominated the Canucks in the second period. Vegas had a 15-7 shot advantage over the Canucks and kept them off the board.
Vegas did add onto their lead early in the third period on the power play. Mark Stone wristed a shot from the right circle that went passed goaltender Jacob Markstrom’s glove hand to give the Golden Knights a 3-0 lead. Stone’s goal was the dagger that put away the Canucks and gives the Golden Knights a 2-1 series advantage. Robin Lenher was spectacular as he faced 32 shots on goal and shutout the Canucks for the second time in this series. Vegas and Vancouver are back it tomorrow night for game 4.
