- The Pittsburgh Penguins announced that forward Evgeni Malkin underwent successful elbow surgery on his left elbow.
- Malkin’s recovery time is an estimated 3-4 weeks.
- The NHL has announced their weekly COVID-19 update.
- After completing it’s third consecutive week of Phase 4 of the Return to Play for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, no new positive tests were announced.
- Between August 9th and 15th a total of 5,640 tests were administered to all members of the Clubs’ 52 member travelling parties, which were tested on a daily basis.

Tampa Bay Lightning v. Columbus Blue Jackets – 3p EST Start Time
To start the day the Lightning look to grow their lead over the Blue Jackets, who in return are looking to tie the series at two. After a scoreless first period Barclay Goodrow would open up the scoring 16 seconds into the second period to take the 1-0 lead for Tampa. Then Yanni Gourde would strike to give Tampa the 2-0 lead, but Cam Atkinson would strike to get Columbus on the board. However, come the third period the Lightning would shut the door on the Jackets to take the 2-1 victory and grow their series lead to 3-1.

Colorado Avalanche v. Arizona Coyotes – 530p EST Start Time
Out in Edmonton the Avalanche and Coyotes would do battle as Arizona looks to even their series with Colorado. In the first period the Avalanche would get a second half flurry of goals as Matt Nieto would score to take the 1-0 lead, then Nazem Kadri would net a pair of powerplay goals to give Colorado the 3-0 lead. Then in the second period Joonas Donskoi would score to grow Colorado’s lead to four, but while on the powerplay Jakob Chychrun would score to bring the Coyotes back within three. However, in the third period the Avalanche would pile on the goals as Cale Makar, Matt Calvert, and Mikko Rantanen (PPG) would all score to topple the Coyotes 7-1 for the 3-1 series lead.
Colorado v. Arizona Game 4 Recap – Avalanche Bury the Coyotes
Boston Bruins v. Carolina Hurricanes – 8p EST Start Time
Back in Toronto the Bruins and Hurricanes face off for Game 4 of their First Round matchup. In the first period Justin Williams would score 9:17 into the period to give the Hurricanes the 1-0 lead. In the second period Jordan Martinook would strike to give the Hurricanes the 2-0 lead. Then in the third period the Bruins would come alive as Jake DeBrusk (two goals), Connor Clifton, and Brad Marchand would score to give the Bruins the 4-2 lead, and also out shoot the Hurricanes 16-0 in 18 minutes of third period action. With 87 seconds left in the game Teuvo Teravainen would score on Carolina’s first shot of the period to cut their deficit to one, but it would not be enough as the Bruins would go on to win 4-3 and take the 3-1 series lead.

St. Louis Blues v. Vancouver Canucks – 1030p EST Start Time
Back out West we have the Blues looking to even their series with the Canucks. In the first period Ryan O’Reilly would strike on the powerplay with 3:17 left in the period for the 1-0 lead for the Blues. Then in the second period JT Miller would tie the game at one for the Canucks, but O’Reilly’s second of the game and Alex Pietrangelo’s powerplay tally would give the Blues the 3-1 victory and tie the series at two.
