Calgary Flames vs Dallas Stars (DAL leads series 3-2)
Tonight, the Calgary Flames and the Dallas Stars are back in action for game five. Previously, the Stars won 5-4 in an overtime thriller to even the series 2-2. Dallas would get on the board first as Jamie Benn would score short handed as Calgary’s power play was about to begin. Benn buried the puck in the back of the net off a rebound from a Tyler Seguin shot. However, the Flames were able to tie the game in the final minute of the period as Mikael Backlund wristed one passed Stars goalie Anton Khudobin. After the first period, the score would be tied 1-1.
Period two saw the Stars maintain the pressure on the Flames as they continued to outshoot their opponents. However, they couldn’t get regain the lead after having some offensive chances. The game would remain tied 1-1 heading into the final period.
The final period saw the Stars get the game winner early on at the 1:12 mark. Defenseman John Klingberg wristed a shot that would get behind Flames goalie Cam Talbot. Dallas was able to shut the Flames down for the remainder of the game. Calgary is now pushed to the brink of elimination as they now trail the series 3-2. They will have a chance to force a game seven on Thursday.
