  • The NHL Department of Player Safety announced that they have fined Nashville Predator’s defenseman Ryan Ellis $5000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for cross checking forward Corey Perry of the Dallas Stars.


Game Recaps:

Carolina Hurricanes v. Pittsburgh Penguins – 130p EST Start Time


In Pittsburgh the Penguins would not be able to weather storm of the Carolina Hurricanes. In the first period rookie Morgan Geekie would score his first career goal for the Hurricanes, but goals from Patrick Marleau and Evgeni Malkin the 2-1 lead. However, in the final forty minutes the Hurricanes would get five unanswered goals from Jaccob Slavin, Jake Gardiner, a pair from Justin Williams, and Geekie’s second of the game to give the Hurricanes the 6-2 victory.


Tampa Bay Lightning v. Detroit Red Wings – 5p EST Start Time

In Detroit we’d see a high scoring affair between the Red Wings and Tampa Bay Lightning. In the first period Robby Fabbri would score for the Wings, and then in the second period Brayden Point and Carter Verhaeghe would give the Lightning the one goal lead, but Dylan Larkin would score to tie the game at two. In the third period Point would net his second of the game and Pat Maroon would tally for Tampa, but goals from Anthony Mantha and Tyler Bertuzzi would tie the game up at four to send the game to overtime. After a scoreless extra frame, it would be Fabbri in the shootout to give the Red Wings the 5-4 victory.


Vegas Golden Knights v. Calgary Flames – 7p EST Start Time

In Calgary the Vegas Golden Knights look to cool off the Flames, and in the first period the Knights would get goals from Tomas Nosek and Nick Holden to take the 2-0 lead. Then in the second period Max Pacioretty would grow the lead to three, but goals from Milan Lucic and Dillon Dube would get the Flames back within one. In the third period Matthew Tkachuk would score for the Flames, but goals from Shea Theodore and Jonathan Marchessault would give the Golden Knights the 5-3 victory.


St. Louis Blues v. Chicago Blackhawks – 730p EST Start Time

In Chicago the Blackhawks would host the St. Louis Blues in a Central Division matchup, and all the Blues would need were goals from Robert Bortuzzo and Alex Pietrangelo to take the 2-0 victory.


Minnesota Wild v. Anaheim Ducks – 9p EST Start Time

In Anaheim the Ducks would play host to the Minnesota Wild, and in the first period Mats Zuccarello and Kevin Fiala would strike for the Wild, but Jakob Silfverberg would score to keep the Ducks within one. In the second period Danton Heinen and Silfverberg’s second of the game would give the Ducks the 3-2 lead. Then in the third period Victor Rask and Alex Galchenyuk would regain the lead for the Wild, but Christian Djoos would score his first as a Duck to tie the game at four and send the game to overtime. In the extra frame it would be Fiala with his second of the game to give the Wild the 5-4 victory.


Columbus Blue Jackets v. Vancouver Canucks – 10p EST Start Time

In Vancouver the Canucks would play host to the Columbus Blue Jackets, and despite getting a third period Elias Pettersson tally for the Canucks, it would be Emil Bemstrom and Eric Robinson second period tallies that would give the Jackets the 2-1 victory.


Colorado Avalanche v. San Jose Sharks – 10p EST Start Time

In San Jose the Sharks would host the Colorado Avalanche, and while the Sharks would get goals from Joe Thornton, Melker Karlsson, and Noah Gregor, it would be goalas by Nathan MacKinnon, Gabriel Landeskog, Vladislav Namestnikov, and Joonas Donskoi to give the Avalanche the 4-3 victory.
