Today the National Hockey League announced their Three Stars of the Week for the week of February 3rd through 9th.
First Star – Elvis Merzlikins (G, Columbus Blue Jackets)
- Merzlikins would go 2-1-0 in three games played that would see him record two shutouts with a .67 GAA and a .971 save percentage. He would also go 173 minutes and 39 seconds before allowing a goal last week. Merzlikins would start the week with a 32 save 1-0 shutout over Florida on Feb. 4th. Then on Feb. 7th he would record a 16 save 2-0 shutout over Detroir, and close the week with a 20 save effort in a loss to Colorado on Feb. 8th.
Second Star – Kyle Connor (LW, Winnipeg Jets)
- Connor led the NHL with eight points (3g, 5a) in four games played for the Jets. Connor would start the week by being held off the score sheet by Nashville on Feb. 4th, but on Feb. 6th he would record an assist against St. Louis. Then in the Jets weekend back to back with the Ottawa Senators on Feb 8th and 9th, Connor would score a combined three goals and four assists to lead the Jets.
Third Star – Andrei Vasilevskiy (G, Tampa Bay Lightning)
- Vasilevskiy would go a perfect 3-0-0 with a 1.67bGAA and .936 save percentage to lead the Lightning. Vasilevskiy would backstop Tampa to back to back 4-2 wins over Vegas on Feb. 4th and Pittsburgh on Feb. 6th. He would close out the week with a 17 save 3-1 victory over the New York Islanders on Feb. 8th.
