  • The Washington Capitals recalled defenseman Martin Fehervary from Hershey of the AHL.

 

Game Recaps:

Ottawa Senators v. Winnipeg Jets – 2p EST Start Time

In Winnipeg the Jets would play host to the Ottawa Senators. In the first period Neal Pionk would open the scoring for the Jets. Then in the second period Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Mikkel Boedker would score for the Senators, but a goal from Kyle Connor and a pair of powerplay goals by Patrik Laine to give the Jets the 4-2 lead. Then in the third period Laine would net his third powerplay tally to complete the hat trick to give the Jets the 4-2 victory.

 

Arizona Coyotes v. Boston Bruins – 3p EST Start Time

In Boston the Bruins would play host to the Arizona Coyotes, and after a scoreless first period Phil Kessel would strike on the powerplay for the Coyotes, but the Bruins would respond with goals from Charlie Coyle, Patrice Bergeron, and Jake DeBrusk to take the 3-1 lead. In the third period Jakob Chychrun would score for the Coyotes, but Coyle’s second of the game would give the Bruins the 4-2 victory.

 

New York Islanders v. Tampa Bay Lightning – 7p EST Start Time

In Tapa Bay the Lightning would host the New York Islanders, and after a scoreless first period Brayden Point would get the Lightning on the board first with his 20th of the season. Then in the third period Derick Brassard would strike for the Islanders, but goals from Carter Verhaeghe and Steven Stamkos would secure the 3-1 victory for the Lightning.

 

Pittsburgh Penguins v. Florida Panthers – 7p EST Start Time

In Florida the Panthers and Pittsburgh Penguins would do battle. In the first period Kris Letang and Teddy Blueger would score to give the Penguins the 2-0 lead, but Mike Hoffman would strike for the Panthers to bring them back within one. In the second period Brett Connolly would strike for the Panthers, but Sidney Crosby’s powerplay tally would secure the 3-2 victory for the Penguins.

 

Los Angeles Kings v. New Jersey Devils – 7p EST Start Time

Scott recaps the New Jersey Devils second straight shutout victory, this time against the Los Angeles Kings.

 

Toronto Maple Leafs v. Montreal Canadiens – 7p EST Start Time

In Montreal the Canadiens would host the Toronto Maple Leafs, and after two scoreless periods John Tavares and Marco Scandella would trade goals as they would enter overtime tied at one. In the extra frame Ilya Kovalchuk would net his ninth of the season to give the Canadiens the 2-1 victory.

 

Philadelphia Flyers v. Washington Capitals – 7p EST Start Time

The Washington Capitals leave Braden Holtby out to dry as the Philadelphia Flyers drill the Capitals 7-2 in DC.

 

Colorado Avalanche v. Columbus Blue Jackets – 7p EST Start Time

In Columbus the Blue Jackets would host the Colorado Avalanche, and after a scoreless first period Seth Jones would strike on the powerplay to give the Jackets the 1-0 lead. Then in the third period Nazem Kadri and Nathan MacKinnon would strike to give the Avalanche the 2-1 comeback victory.

 

Nashville Predators v. Edmonton Oilers – 7p EST Start Time

In Edmonton the Nashville Predators would come to town to faceoff with Oilers. In the first period Craig Smith would score to get the Predators on the board first. Then in the second period Nick Bonino would score to grow the lead to two, but Alex Chiasson would score on the powerplay to get the Oilers on the board. Theni the third period Leon Draisaitl would score a pair of goals to give the Oilers the 3-2 victory.

 

Dallas Stars v. St. Louis Blues – 8p EST Start Time

The St. Louis Blues would break out their alternates as they host the Dallas Stars. In the first period Colton Parayko would score a pair of goals for the Blues to take the 2-0 lead, but Jamie Benn would strike on the powerplay to bring the Stars within one. In the second period Roope Hintz to tie the game at two and send the game to overtime. Then in overtime Hintz would net his second of the game to give the Stars the 3-2 victory.

 

Calgary Flames v. Vancouver Canucks – 10p EST Start Time

In Vancouver the Canucks would begin their week long celebration of the Sedin twins by hosting the Calgary Flames. In the first period both teams would trade a pair of goals as Derek Ryan and Matthew Tkachuk would score for the Flames, and Tanner Pearson and Adam Gaudette would tally for the Canucks. In the second period Dillon Dube would score for the Flames to take the 3-2 lead. Then in the third period Milan Lucic would strike on the powerplay and Sean Monahan and Tobias Rieder would strike to give the Flames the 6-2 victory.

 

Carolina Hurricanes v. Vegas Golden Knights – 10p EST Start Time

In Vegas the Golden Knights would host the Carolina Hurricanes, and in the first period Max Pacioretty and Jon Merrill would score for the Knights, but a goal from Teuvo Teravainen would bring the Hurricanes back within one. In the second period Shea Theadore would score the lone goal for the Knights. Then in the third period Chandler Stephenson would score the shorthanded tally for the Knights, but goals by Sebastian Aho and Erik Haula would bring the Hurricanes back within one. Then Hayden Fleury would score to tie the game at four for the Hurricanes, and then Martin Necas and Cody Eakin would trade goals as the Hurricanes and the Knights would go to overtime tied at five. After a scoreless extra frame it would be Justin Williams once again scoring the game winner in the shootout as the Hurricanes defeat the Golden Knights 6-5.
