  • The Edmonton Oilers announced that they have re-signed forward Zack Kassian to a four year contract extension.


Game Recaps:

Toronto Maple Leafs v. Dallas Stars – 730p EST Start Time


In Dallas the Stars would don their Winter Classic jerseys once again as they host the Toronto Maple Leafs. In the first period Auston Matthews and Denis Gurianov would trade goals, but then in the final two period the Leafs would double up the Stars four goals to two as Alexander Radulov would score both goals fro the Stars and Zach Hyman, Tyson Barrie, William Nylander, and Andrea Johnsson would all score for the Leafs as they leave Dallas with the 5-3 victory.


Nashville Predators v. Washington Capitals – 730p EST Start Time

The Washington Capitals would fall in the third period as the Nashville Predators pick up the 5-4 victory.


Arizona Coyotes v. Anaheim Ducks – 10p EST Start Time

In Anaheim the Ducks would play host to the Arizona Coyotes. In the first period Vinnie Hinostroza would strike for the Coyotes, but Adam Henriquewould net a pair of goals to give the Ducks the 2-1 lead. Then in the second period Hampus Lindholm would score to grow the Ducks lead to two, but Lawson Crouse would strike to bring the Coyotes backs within one. However, before the end of the second Carter Rowney would strike while shorthanded to retake the two goal lead for the Ducks and secure the 4-2 victory.


Tampa Bay Lightning v. Los Angeles Kings – 10p EST Start Time

In Los Angeles the Kings would honor the memory of Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna, and the other seven lost in Sunday’s tragedy as they host the Tampa Bay Lightning. In the first period Tyler Toffoli would strike on the powerplay to give the Kings the 1-0 lead. Then in the second period Alex Iafallo would score to grow their lead to two, but Tyler Johnson would score for the Lightning to cut their deficit back to one, and Steven Stamkos would score to tie the game at two. Then in the third period Erik Cernak would score and Stamkos’ second goal of the game would give the Lightning the 4-2 victory over the Kings.


Calgary Flames v. Edmonton Oilers – 10p EST Start Time

In the Battle of Alberta, the Edmonton Oilers would host the Calgary Flames to continue on this season’s rivalry. In the first period the Flames would strike first with an Elias Lindholm tally. Then in the second period Kailer Yamamoto would net his fourth of the season to tie the game at one, but then Andrew Mangiapane and Alex Chiasson (PPG) would trade goals to keep the game tied at two, but Mangiapane’s second of the game late in the period would give the Flames the 3-2 lead. In the third period Matt Benning would score his first of the season to tie the game at three and send the game to overtime which would see Sean Monahan score in the shootout to secure the 4-3 victory for the Flames.


Vancouver Canucks v. San Jose Sharks – 1030p EST Start Time

In San Jose the Sharks would play host to the Vancouver Canucks, and in the first period Tomas Hertl would strike first for the Sharks, but Quinn Hughes would score for the Canucks to tie the game at one. Then in the second period Brent Burns would score his tenth of the season to give the Sharks the 2-1 lead. Then in the third period the Canucks would explode for  a four goal period as Tyler Myers, Jake Virtanen (PPG), Brandon Sutter, and Tanner Pearson would all score to secure the 5-2 victory.
