Today the National Hockey League announced their Three Stars of the Week for the week of December 23rd through 29th.
First Star – Victor Hedman (D, Tampa Bay Lightning)
- In three games played, Hedman lead the League with six assists and eight points for the Tampa Bay Lightning. Hedman would start the week with a three point performance (2g, 1a) in a 6-1 victory over the Florida Panthers on Dec. 23rd. Then on Dec. 28th against Montreal he would record four assists in Tampa’s 5-4 victory, and to finish the week Hedman would record one assist in Tampa’s 2-1 win over Detroit on Dec. 29th.
Second Star – Jordan Binnington (G, St. Louis Blues)
- Binnington would start all three games for the St. Louis Blues this past week recording a perfect 3-0-0 record with an 1.96 GAA, and a .929 Save Percentage. Binnington started the week with a 29 save 4-1 victory over Los angeles on DEc. 23rd, then after teh holiday break on Dec. 27th he would record a 25 save 5-4 overtime victory over Winnipeg, and close out the week with a 25 save 4-1 victory over the Jets on Dec. 29th.
Third Star – John Tavares (C, Toronto Maple Leafs)
- Tavares would record two goals and five assists for seven points to pace the Toronto Maple Leafs to claiming five out of six standings points. Tavares would start the week a goal and two assists in an 8-6 victory against Carolina on Dec. 23rd. Then on Dec. 27th against New Jersey he would strike for a goal and an assist again in a 5-4 overtime victory, and to cap off the week Tavares would record an assist in a 5-4 overtime loss to the New York Rangers on Dec. 28th.
