NHL Three Stars of the Week for Dec. 16th – 22nd

Today the National Hockey League announced their Three Stars of the Week for the week of December 16th through 22nd.


First Star – Noel Acciari (C, Florida Panthers)

  • Acciari led the NHL with seven goals, and would score back to back hat tricks as he would end the week with eight points. Acciari would open the week with his first career hat trick in a 6-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Dec. 16, then he would net his second consecutive hat trick and an assist for a four point performance on Dec. 20th against Dallas. Acciari would end his week with by recording a goal against Carolina on Dec. 21st.

Second Star – Roman Josi (D, Nashville Predators)

  • Josi scored in all four games that he appeared in this week, and would rank second among all skaters with seven points (6g, 1a). Josi would start the week with a three point (2g, 1a) performance on Dec. 16th against the New York Rangers, then on Dec. 17th against the New York Islanders he would tally a goal and an assist. On Dec. 19th against Ottawa he would record another two point game (1g, 1a), and to finish off the week Josi would score his second two goal game of the week on Dec. 21st against Boston.

Third Star – Joonas Korpisalo (G, Columbus Blue Jackets)

  • Korpisalo would play all four games for the Blue Jackets and would go a perfect 4-0-0 for the week. Korpisalo would open the week with a 3-0 shutout victory where he would stop all 30 shots by the Washington Capitals on Dec. 16th, then on Dec. 17th he would make 18 saves in a 5-3 victory over Detroit. Then on Dec. 19th he would make 23 saves in a 3-2 victroy over Los Angeles, and to cap off the week Korpisalo would make 21 saves in a 5-1 victory over New Jersey on Dec. 21st.
