  • The NHL Department of Player Safety has announced that they have fined Detroit Red Wings forward Robby Fabbri $2419.35, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for spearing forward Alexander Kerfoot of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

 

Game Recaps:

Anaheim Ducks v. New York Rangers – 1230p EST Start Time

At Madison Square Garden the New York Rangers would host the Anaheim Ducks for a Sunday afternoon matinee. In the first period Same Steel would strike for the Ducks, but Filip Chytil, Brett Howden, and Chris Kreider would all score for the Rangers to take the 3-1 lead into the first intermission. Then in the second period Kreider would net his second of the game, and Mika Zibanejad would seal the deal for the Rangers with a shorthanded tally as they would go on to win 5-1.

 

Calgary Flames v. Dallas Stars – 7p EST Start Time

In Dallas the Stars would play host to the Calgary Flames. In the first period both teams would trade goals as Andrew Mangiapane would strike first for the Flames, but Denis Gurianov would score 38 seconds later to tie the game at one. Then in the second period the Flames would get a pair of powerplay goals from Matthew Tkachuk and Sean Monahan to take the 3-1 lead. Then in the third period Mikael Backlund would score his fourth of the season, and Derek Ryan would net his sixth of the season to grow the Flames lead to four and secure the 5-1 victory.

 

Arizona Coyotes v. Detroit Red Wings – 7p EST Start Time

In Detroit the Arizona Coyotes would come to town to face the Red Wings, and in the first period Clayton Keller would score a pair of goals to give the Coyotes the 2-0 lead. Then in the second period Carl Soderberg would net his 11th of the season to grow the Coyotes lead to three. Then in the third period Taylor Hall would score his first goal as a member of the Coyotes, and Christian Dvorak would score his ninth of the season for the Coyotes. Filip Zadina would score his third of the season to get the Wings on the board, and Tyler Bertuzzi would net his 14th of the season, but it would not be enough as the Coyotes would go on to win 5-2.

 

Vegas Golden Knights v. San Jose Sharks – 10p EST Start Time

In San Jose the Sharks and Vegas Golden Knights would renew their rivalry, and a scoreless 37 minutes of hockey the Knights would strike first with a Paul Stastny tally for the 1-0 lead heading into the second intermission. Then in the third period Logan Couture would get the Sharks on the board, but Shea Theodore and Jonathan Marchessault would score to give the Golden Knights the 3-1 victory.

  • In a pair of announcements by the National Women’s Hockey League, they would first announce a new partnership with AccuWeather.

 

  • Then the NWHL would announce that on Monday, Dec. 23rd the NWHL will ring the Nasdaq Stock Market Opening Bell.

 

  • The NHL Department of Player Safety has fined Colorado Avalanche defenseman Samuel Girard $1957.89, the maximum allowable per the CBA, for boarding Chicago Blackhawks forward Alex DeBrincat.

New York Islanders v. Boston Bruins – 7p EST Start Time

In Boston Anders Bjork would start off the scoring for the Bruins to take the 1-0 lead in the first period. Then in the second period the New York Islanders would strike with tallies from Johnny Boychuk and Mathew Barzal to take the 2-1 lead. Then in the third period Torey Krug would strike on the powerplay to tie the game and send it to overtime. After a scoreless extra five minutes it would be Barzal with the shootout winner to give the Islanders the 3-2 victory.

 

Dallas Stars v. Tampa Bay Lightning – 7p EST Start Time

In Tampa Bay the Lightning would take on the Dallas Stars, and in the first period Alexander Radulov would strike early on the powerplay for the Stars, but Mikhail Sergachev and Alex Killorn would both strike on the powerplay to give the Lightning the 2-1 lead. In the second period Ondrej Palat would score his tenth of the season to grow Tampa’s lead to two, but Radek Faksa would score his eighth of the season to get the Stars back within one. then in the third period Jason Dickinson would tie the game at three, and in overtime Tyler Seguin would strike to secure the 4-3 victory for the Stars.

 

Buffalo Sabres v. Philadelphia Flyers – 7p EST Start Time

In Philadelphia the 16 game point streak of Jack Eichel would come to an end as he would be a last minute scratch due to an upper boday injury and the Buffalo Sabres would struggle against the Flyers. In the first period Mikhail Vorobyev would score his first career NHL goame, followed by a James van Riemsdyk tally, and a Matt Niskanen powerplay goal to take the 3-0 lead. Then in the second period Ivan Provorov (PPG), Tyler Pitlick, and van Riemsdyk (second of the game) would all score to grow the flyers lead to six.In the third period Victor Olofsson would score on the powerplay for the Sabres, but the Flyers would hold on for the 6-1 victory.

 

Los Angeles Kings v. Columbus Blue Jackets – 7p EST Start Time

In Columbus the Los Angeles Kings would visit the Blue Jackets, and in the first period Adrian Kempe would get the Kings on the board 42 seconds into the game, but Zach Werenski would strike on the powerplay to tie the game at one. In the third period Boone Jenner would score to tie the game at two, and in overtime Pierre -Luc Dubois would score his 12th of the season to give the Blue Jackets the 3-2 victory.

In Ottawa the Nashville Predators would strike first as Craig Smith would net his fifth of the season. Then in the second period the Senators would explode for three goals as Colin White, Vladislav Namestnikov (SHG), and Artem Anisimov would all score to take the 3-1 lead. Then in the third period Brady Tkachuk would score on the powerplay to grow the Senators lead to three, but the Predators would come roaring back with goals from Rocco Grimaldi, Ryan Johansen (PPG), and Roman Josi to tie the game at four. However, Anthony Duclair would net his 20th of the season while on the powerplay in overtime to win the game for the Senators 5-4.

 

Chicago Blackhawks v. Winnipeg Jets – 8p EST Start Time

In Winnipeg the Jets would host the Chicago Blackhawks, and in the first period Alexander Nylander would strike 59 seconds into the game for the 1-0 lead for Chicago. Then after a scoreless second period Tucker Poolman would score for the Jets, but Dominik Kubalik, Erik Gustafsson (PPG), and Patrick Kane would all score to give the Blackhawks the 4-1 victory.

In Colorado between the Carolina Hurricanes and Avalanche it would take two scoreless periods before a goal would finally be scored. In the third period Nathan MacKinnon would score his 22nd of the season to break the scoreless tie and give the Avalanche the 1-0 lead, but the Hurricanes would get late goals from Andrei Svechnikov, Jaccob Slavin, and Sebastian Aho to give the Hurricanes the 3-1 victory.

 

Montreal Canadiens v. Calgary Flames – 9p EST Start Time

In Calgary the Flames would rock their retro white jerseys from October’s Heritage Classic against the Montreal Canadiens, and in the first period Matthew Tkachuk and Elias Lindholm (PPG) would strike for the Flames as they would take the 2-0 lead into the first intermission. Then in the second period Brendan Gallagher and Joel Armia would tie the game at two for the Canadiens. In the third period Oliver Kylington would strike for the Flames, but Nick Suzuki would tie the game back up at three. Then in overtime Max Domi would score his seventh of the season to help the Canadiens defeat the Flames 4-3.

 

Minnesota Wild v. Arizona Coyotes – 930p EST Start Time

In Arizona the Coyotes would play host to the Minnesota Wild, and in the first period Phil Kessel would score his eighth of the season for the 1-0 Coyotes lead. then in the second period Jakob Chychrun would score for the Coyotes on the powerplay, but the Wild would explode for four goals as Ryan Donato, Marcus Foligno, Ryan Hartman, and Eric Staal would all score to take a 4-2 lead. Then in the third period Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Chychrun (PPG, second of the game) would score to tie the game at four for the Coyotes, but Brad Hunt would score to retake the lead for the Wild, and Mats Zuccarello would tally to grow the lead to two. However, Clayton Keller would strike for the Coyotes wot bring them back to within one. But the Wild would not relent as they would get goals from Ryan Suter and Luke Kunin to defeat the Coyotes 8-5.

 

Vegas Golden Knights v. Vancouver Canucks – 10p EST Start Time

In Vancouver the Canucks would face off against the Vegas Golden Knights. In the first period Jonathan Marchessault would strike for Vegas, but the Canucks would get goals from Antoine Roussel, Tanner Pearson (PPG), and Elias Pettersson to take the 3-1 lead. However, in the second period Reilly Smith and Nick Holden would score for the Knights to tie the game at three. Then in the third period Pettersson would score his second of the game for the Canucks to retake the lead, but Mark Stone would score his 13th of the season to retie the game at four to send the game to overtime. Then in overtime Chris Tanev would net his second of the season to give the Canucks the 5-4 victory.

  • Ilya Kovalchuk has cleared waivers and is now an Unrestricted Free Agent, and is looking to continue playing in the NHL this season.

Los Angeles Kings v. Boston Bruins – 7p EST Start Time

In Boston we would see the Bruins and Los Angeles Kings trade goals all three periods. In the first period the Kings would strike first as Blake Lizotte would strike on the powerplay to take the one goal lead, but Boston would score in the final minute while one the powerplay as Danton Heinen would strike to tie the game at one. In the second period Adrian Kempe would score while shorthanded to retake the lead for the Kings, but Patrice Bergeron would score his 11th of the season to tie the game at two. Then in the third period Brandon Carlo would give Boston their first lead with his third of the season, but Matt Roy would tie the game at three to send the game into overtime which would see Anze Kopitar score the game winner to give the Kings the 4-3 victory.

 

Buffalo Sabres v. Toronto Maple Leafs – 7p EST Start Time

In Toronto the Maple Leafs would host their rival Buffalo Sabres. In the first period Frederik Gauthier would net his fourth of the season to take the 1-0 lead for the Leafs. Then in the second period Auston Matthews would net a pair of goals to take the three goal lead for the Leafs, but in the third period the Sabres would look to climb back into the game as they would get goals from Rasmus Dahlin (PPG), Jack Eichel, and Kyle Okposo. However, Dmytro Timashov and Ilya Mikheyev (SHG) would score to secure the 5-3 victory for the Leafs.

 

Ottawa Senators v. Tampa Bay Lightning – 7p EST Start Time

In Tampa Bay the Lightning would play host to the Ottawa Senators, and in the first period the Lightning would strike twice as Nikita Kucherov and Cedric Paquette would both score for Tampa, but Mark Borowiecki would score for the Senators. Then in the second period Brayden Point would score for the Lightning, but Connor Brown and Anthony Duclair would strike to tie the game at three. After a scoreless third period it would be Anthony Cirelli with his seventh of the season to secure the 4-3 victory for the Lightning.

 

Nashville Predators v. New York Islanders – 7p EST Start Time

In Long Island the Nashville Predators would pounce on the New York Islanders. In the first period Craig Smith would get scoring started for Nashville. Then in the second period we would see a seven goal period as the Islanders would get goals from Brock Nelson, Derick Brassard (PPG), and Casey Cizikas (SHG), but the Predators would get goals from Filip Forsberg (PPG), Smith (second of the game), Nick Bonino, and Rocco Grimaldi to take the 5-3 lead. Then in the third period Calle Jarnkrok, Roman Josi (PPG), and Ryan Johansen would all score to give the Predators the 8-3 victory.

 

Anaheim Ducks v. Philadelphia – 7p EST Start Time

In Philadelphia the Flyers would play host to the Anaheim Ducks, and after a scoreless first period both Claude Giroux and David Kase would score to give the Flyers a quick 2-0 lead, but Rickard Rakell would strike on the powerplay to cut the Flyers lead to one. Then in the third period Jakub Voracek and Sean Couturier would both score to give the Flyers the 4-1 victory.

In Detroit the Red Wings and Columbus Blue Jackets would play a very close first forty minutes of hockey. In the first period Cam Atkinson and Oliver Bjorkstrand would score for Columbus, while Adam Erne would score a pair of goals for the Wings to tie the game at two. Then in the second period Tyler Bertuzzi would strike on the powerplay for the Wings, and Kevin Stenlund would net his first goal while on the powerplay to tie the game at three. However, in the third period it would be all Columbus as Pierre-Luc Dubois and Gustav Nyquist would score for the Blue Jackets to take the 5-3 victory.

 

Carolina Hurricanes v. Winnipeg Jets – 8p EST Start Time

In Winnipeg the Jets would be grounded by the Carolina Hurricanes. In the first period Linus Wallmark would strike late on the powerplay for the Hurricanes, but Jack Roslovic would tally with eight seconds left in the period to tie the game at one. Then in the second period Patrik Laine would score for the Jets, but the Hurricanes would explode for four goals as Sebastian Aho would net a pair of goals and Andrei Svechnikov and Jordan Staal (PPG) would both score to give the Hurricanes the 5-2 lead. Then in the third period Staal would score his second of the game for the Hurricanes, and Mark Scheifele (PPG) would score for the Jets, but it would be the Hurricanes leaving Winnipeg with the 6-3 victory.

In the second period John Marino and Bryan Rust would score to give the Penguins the 2-1 lead, and then in the third period Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang would strike to give the Penguins the 4-1 victory.

In San Jose Taylor Hall would make his Arizona Coyotes debut against the Sharks. In the first period Carl Soderberg and Tomas Hertl would trade goals, then in the second period Derek Stepan and Hertl would trade goals again to keep the game tied. Then in the third period Hall would assist on the game winner as Oliver Ekman-Larsson would score to give the Coyotes the 3-2 victory.

NHL Three Stars of the Week for Dec. 9th – 15th

Today the National Hockey League announced their Three Stars of the Week for the week of December 9th through 15th.

 

First Star – Max Pacioretty (LW, Vegas Golden Knights)

  • Pacioretty would lead all skaters in the NHL with eight points (5g, 3a) in four games played for the Golden Knights. Pacioretty would open the week with a goal against Chicago on Dec. 10th, then would follow up with another goal on Dec. 12th against St. Louis. On Dec. 13th he would register an overtime goal and an assist against Dallas, and to close out the week on Dec. 15th against Vancouver, Pacioretty would record two goals and two assists for a four poitn performance.

Second Star – Anthony Duclair (LW, Ottawa Senators)

  • Duclair would tie for the League lead in goals (5) for the week. Duclair would start the week with a three point (2g, 1a) performance against Boston on Dec. 9th, but he would be held scoreless on Dec. 11th against Montreal. Then to close out the week Duclair would score his third career hat trick against Columbus on Dec. 14th.

Third Star – Jack Eichel (C, Buffalo Sabres)

  • Eichel would continue his hot streak as he would expand his point streak to 16 games as he would tally five goals and an assist for six points on the week. On Dec. 10th against St. Louis Eichel would score a pair of goals to start the week, and then he would net another pair of goals against Nashville on Dec. 12th. To close out the week on Dec. 14th against the New York Islanders, Eichel would record a goal and an assist for his third two point night of the week.

In Winnipeg the Jets would play host to the Philadelphia Flyers, and it would be an all out assault by the Jets in this game. In the first period the Jets would strike with goals from Nikolaj Ehlers and Luca Sbisa to take the 2-0 lead. Then in the third period the Flyers would get goals from Matt Niskanen (PPG) and James van Riemsdyk, but the gets would net four goals as Blake Wheeler (PPG), Mark Scheifele (PPG), Logan Shaw, and Patrik Laine would score to take a commanding 6-2 lead. Then in the third period Shayne Gostisbehere would strike for his fifth of the season for Philadelphia, but Kyle Connor would strike on the powerplay to give the Jets the 7-3 victory.

 

Minnesota Wild v. Chicago Blackhawks – 7p EST Start Time

In Chicago the Blackhawks would play host to the Minnesota Wild, and in the first period Patrick Kane would strike with back to back goals to give the Blackhawks the two goal lead, but Eric Staal would strike on the powerplay to cut the Wild’s deficit to one. In the second period Kevin Fiala would score a pair of goals for the Wild, and David Kampf would score for the Blackhawks as the game would be tied at three heading into the third period. Then in the third period the Blackhawks would get goals from Brandona Saad and the hat trick goal from Patrick Kane to secure the 5-3 victory.

Then in the second period Anze Kopitar would net back to back of goals for the Kings to take a 3-0 lead, and then in the third period Tyler Toffoli would grow the Kings lead to four, but Filip Zadina would score his second of the season to end the Kings shutout bid. Then late in third Madison Bowey would score his second of the season, but it would not be enough as the Kings would hold on to win 4-2.

Then in the third period Brock Boeser would get on the board for the Canucks, but Max Pacioretty would net his 14th of the season to give the Golden Knights the 5-2, but Jake Virtanen would score on the powerplay to cut the Knights lead back to two. However, the Knights would get another goal from Pacioretty while on the powerplay to win the game 6-3.

  • The Philadelphia Flyers have announced that forward Oskar Lindbolm has been diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma. Lindbolm is not expected to return this season as he will be undergoing further testing and begin treatment as early as next week.

Vegas Golden Knights v. Dallas Stars – 8p EST Start Time

In Dallas the Vegas Golden Knights would look to dim the Stars, but it would be Dallas striking first during the first period as Taylor Fedun would net his second of the season for the 1-0 lead. However, in the second period William Karlsson would net his tenth of the season, and the recently acquired Chandler Stephenson would net his fifth of the season to give the Knights the 2-1 lead. In the third period Jamie Benn would score his seventh of the season to tie the game at two, and send the game to overtime, but it would be Max Pacioretty and his 13th of the season to secure the victory for the Golden Knights 3-2 in overtime.

 

New Jersey Devils v. Colorado Avalanche – 9p EST Start Time

The New Jersey Devils would come to Colorado to outlast the Avalanche, but they would do it without all star Taylor Hall. In the first period the Avalanche would strike on the powerplay as Gabriel Landeskog would score his sixth of the season to take the 1-0 lead. Then in the second period Valeri Nichushkin would net his sixth of the season to take the two goal lead. In the third period the Devils would strike with a Mirco Mueller tally, and his first of the season, to cut the Avalanche’s lead to one, but the Avalanche would respond with Nathan MacKinnon’s 20th of the season to secure the 3-1 victory.

In Buffalo when the Sabres would honor the old Buffalo Auditorium, they would take on the Nashville Predators in a hard fought matchup. In the first period Matt Duchene would get the Predators on the board first with his 8th of the season 57 seconds into the game. However, the Sabres would respond with a Jimmy Vesey tally, but the Predators would take the 2-1 lead with a Colton Sissons tally. In the second period the Sabres would respond with back to back goals from Jack Eichel, but Ryan Johansen would tie the game at three late in the period. Then in the third period Victor Olofsson would score his 13th of the season to give the Sabres the 4-3 victory.

 

Boston Bruins v. Tampa Bay Lightning – 7p EST Start Time

In Tampa Bay the Boston Bruins would get the jump on the Lightning in the first period as Patrice Bergeron would score his 10th of the season to take the 1-0 lead. In the second period Steven Stamkos would net his 12th of the season while on the powerplay to tie the game at one. Then in the third period John Moore would score his first of the season for the Bruins, but Brayden Point would score on the powerplay, and Stamko would net his second of the game to give the Lightning the 3-2 victory.

Then in the third period Anders Lee would strike for his ninth goal of the season to give the Islanders 3-1 victory.

In Detroit the Red Wings would finally end their 12 game winless (and 10 game losing streak) as they would defeat the Winnipeg Jets. In the first period the Wings would get goals from Darren Helm and Robby Fabbri (PPG) to take the 2-0 lead. then in the second period Fabbri would net his second of the game, and Filip Zadina would score his first of the season while on the powerplay to give the Wings a 4-2 lead. Then in the third period Filip Hronek would secure the 5-2 victory for the Wings with his seventh of the season. Kyle Connor would score both goals for Winnipeg.

 

Vegas Golden Knights v. St. Louis Blues – 8p EST Start Time

Then in the third period Gaetan Haas, Connor McDavid, and James Neal would all score for the Oilers, but Erick Staal and Luke Kunin would score to secure the 6-5 victory for the Wild.

In Calgary the Flames would play host to the Toronto Maple Leafs, and in the first period both John Tavares and Travis Hamonic would trade goals as both teams would remain tied. Then in the second period Mitch Marner would score his fifth of the season to give the Leafs the 2-1 lead. Then in the third period the Flames would light up the Leafs as Johnny Gaudreau qould net a pair of goals and Michael Frolik would net his fourth of the season to give the Flames the 4-2 victory.

At home rocking the legendary Kachinas, the Arizona Coyotes would pounce on the Chicago Blackhawks with goals from Michael Grabner, Clayton Keller, and Brad Richardson to take the 3-0 lead. Then in the second period Jonathan Toews would score for the Blackhawks, but Nick Schmaltz would respond for the Coyotes with his sixth of the season. Then in the third period Clayton Keller would net his second of the game to give the Coyotes the 5-2 victory.

 

Carolina Hurricanes v. Vancouver Canucks – 10p EST Start Time

In Vancouver the Canucks would play host to the Carolina Hurricanes, and both teams would play 60 minutes of scoreless hockey, and would need overtime to decide a winner. For the Canucks though, they only needed 40 seconds of the extra frame as Elias Pettersson would net his 13th goal of the season to give the Canucks the 1-0 victory.

 

Los Angeles Kings v. Anaheim Ducks – 10p EST Start Time

In the battle of California neighbors, the Anaheim Ducks would host the Los Angeles Kings, and in the first period it would be Matt Luff scoring his first career goal to give the Kings the 1-0 lead. In the second period Jeff Carter would score his ninth goal of the season while on the powerplay to grow the Kings lead to two. However, in the third period Derek Grant would net his ninth of the season while on the powerplay for the Ducks, but it would not be enough as the Kings would hold on to win 2-1.

 

New York Rangers v. San Jose Sharks – 1030p EST Start Time

In San Jose after firing their head coach the night before, the Sharks would play host to the New York Rangers. In the first period the Sharks would strike first as Tomas Hertl would score his 11th of the season while shorthanded. In the second period the Rangers would get on the board with goals from Jesper Fast and Artemi Panarin to take a 2-1 lead, but Logan Couture would tie the game at two for the Sharks before the end of the period. Then in the third period Brenden Dillon would net his first of the season for the Sharks, but Mika Zibanejad would net a pair of goals (PPG and EVS), and Panarin would score two more goals to complete the hat trick and give the Rangers the 6-3 victory.

  • The Dallas Stars announced that they have dismissed Jim Montgomery as Head Coach, and have named Rick Bowness the interim head coach.
    • Per General Manager Jim Nill the decision to relieve Montgomery of his duties were due to “unprofessional Conduct inconsistent with the core values and beliefs of the Dallas Stars and the National Hockey League.”

In the battle of Florida the Panthers would play host to the Tampa Bay Lightning. In the first period Steven Stamkos would score his 11th of the season to give Tampa the 1-0 lead. Then in the second period Alex Killorn would tally his ninth of the season to grow Tampa’s lead to two. In the third period the Panthers would finally get on the board as Evgenii Dadonov would score his 12th of the season, but it would not be enough as the Lightning would hold on to win 2-1.

 

Montreal Canadiens v. Pittsburgh Penguins – 7p EST Start Time

The Pittsburgh Penguins would play host to the Montreal Canadiens, and after the Penguins would take the 1-0 lead off of a Jake Guentzel tally in the first period, the second period would not be so kind. The Canadiens would get goals from Tomas Tatar (PPG), Joel Armia, and Shea Weber to take the 3-1 lead into the second intermission. Then in the third period Brendan Gallagher would score his 14th of the season to secure the 4-1 victory for the Canadiens.

The Buffalo Sabres would play host to the St. Louis Blues, and in the first period the Sabres would get a quick start as Sam Reinhart would score his 12th of the season 18 seconds into the game, but Tony Brouwer would score his first of the season to tie the game at one. Then in the second period Johan Larsson would tally his fourth of the season to give the Sabres the lead back. In the third period Alex Pietrangelo would net his seventh of the season to tie the game at two, but less than two minutes later Jack Eichel would keep his point streak alive with his 19th goal of the season to regain the lead for the Sabres, and then Zemgus Girgensons would net his fifth of the season, and Eichel would net his second of the game to secure the Sabres the 5-2 victory.

 

San Jose Sharks v. Nashville Predators – 8p EST Start Time

After a scoreless forty minutes, things would heat up in Nashville between the Predators and the San Jose Sharks. In the third period the Sharks would get a goal from Timo Meier, but the Predators would get powerplay goals from Nick Bonino and Ryan Johansen, and Calle Jarnkrok would score his 11th of the season to secure the 3-1 victory for the Predators.

 

Anaheim Ducks v. Minnesota Wild – 8p EST Start Time

In Minnesota the Anaheim Ducks would get the jump on the Wild in the first period with tallies from Rickard Rakell and Cam Fowler (PPG) to take the 2-0 lead. However, in the second period Ryan Hartman would net his fourth of the season, and in the third period Ryan Donato would net his fifth of the season to tie the game at two for the Wild, and force the game into overtime. However, in the shootout the Ducks would dash the Wild’s hopes of the comeback victory as Max Comtois would secure the 3-2 victory for the Ducks.

 

Detroit Red Wings v. Winnipeg Jets – 8p EST Start Time

In Winnipeg the Jets would fly high over the Detroit Red Wings. In the first period Adam Lowry would score while shorthanded to get the 1-0 lead for the Jets. Then in the second period Christoffer Ehn would score his first of the season to tie the game at one, but then the Jets would take over as Blake Wheeler, Andrew Copp, and Patrik Laine would all score to give the Jets the 4-1 lead. In the third period Mark Scheifele would seal the deal with a powerplay marker as the Jets would defeat the Wings 5-1.

After firing Jim Montgomery earlier in the morning (see above in News), the Dallas Stars would play host to the New Jersey Devils, and the first period would that the Stars would need as Radek Faksa and Joe Pavelski would score the only goals that the Stars would need as they would defeat the Devils 2-0.

 

Carolina Hurricanes v. Edmonton Oilers – 9p EST Start Time

In Edmonton the Carolina Hurricanes would come to town to surge over the Oilers, and surge they would in the first period as Sebastian Aho would get the Hurricanes on the board first with his 17th of the season. Then both Nino Niederreiter and Ryan Dzingel would strike on the powerplay to take a 3-0 lead into the first intermission. In the second period the Oilers would begin to mount their comeback with a Zack Kassian tally. Then in the third period Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (PPG) and Kassian (second of the game) would strike to tie the game at three, but Jordan Martinook would score his second of the season to regain the lead for the Hurricanes. Then Sebastian Aho would score his second of the game while on the powerplay, and Dougie Hamilton would score his 11th of the season to give the Hurricanes the 6-3 victory.

 

Calgary Flames v. Arizona Coyotes – 9p EST Start Time

In Arizona the Calgary Flames would heat up the desert as they would take it to the Coyotes. In the first period Michael Frolik and Johnny Gaudreau would strike for the Flames to take the two goal lead. Then in the second period Zac Rinaldo and Sean Monahan would grow the Flames lead to four before Jokob Chychrun would strike to cut the Flames lead to three. In the third period Milan Lucic would score on the powerplay to give the Flames their four goal lead back, but Phil Kessel would get a powerplay tally himself for the Coyotes, but it would not be enough as the Flames would win 5-2.

 

Toronto Maple Leafs v. Vancouver Canucks – 10p EST Start Time

After a scoreless first period in Vancouver, the Toronto Maple Leafs would strike first as Auston Matthews and John Tavares both would strike against the Conucks as the Leafs would take the 2-0 lead into the third period. I the third Josh Leivo would get the Canucks on the board, buth Tavares would score his second of the game, and Zach Hyman would score his sixth of the season to give the Leafs the 4-1 victory.

In Vegas the Golden Knights would play host to the Chicago Blackhawks and after a scoreless first period the Knights would light the lamp three times in the second period. Reilly Smith would kick things off with a powerplay tally to break the scoreless tie, then Deryk Engelland would net his first of the season and William Karlsson would strike while shorthanded to give the Knights the 3-0 lead. Then in the third period Max Pacioretty and Ryan Reaves would score to grow their lead to five, but Dominik Kubalik would score late in the third while on the powerplay to end the Knights shutout bid. However, The Golden Knights would still cruise to the 5-1 victory.

 

New York Rangers v. Los Angeles Kings – 1030p EST Start Time

The Los Angeles Kings would play host to the New York Rangers, and in the first period Dustin Brown would score his seventh of the season to give the Kings the 1-0 lead. In the second period Tyler Toffoli would net his seventh of the season to give the Kings the 2-0 lead, and then in the third period Artemi Panarin would net his 15th of the season while on the powerplay to cut the Kings lead back to one, but Adrian Kempe would score to secure the 3-1 victory for the Kings.

In Winnipeg the Jets play host to the Anaheim Ducks, and in the first period Mark Scheifele would strike first for the Jets, but the Ducks would respond 32 seconds later with a Jakob Silfverberg tally. Then in the second period Adam Lowry would net his third of the season, and Scheifele would net his second of the game while on the powerplay to give the Jets the eventual 3-2 victory. Devin Shore would score the Ducks other goal of the game.

Then in the third period Brett Connolly (PPG) and Frank Vatrano would both score to secure the Panthers the 5-1 victory.

Then in the third period Mika Zibanejad would strik on the powerplay to give the Rangers the 5-0 victory.

 

Arizona Coyotes v. Chicago Blackhawks – 7p EST Start Time

In Chicago the Blackhawks would net three goals in the first period as Jonathan Toews, Alex DeBrincat (PPG), and Dominik Kubalik would get Chicago on the board, but the Arizona Coyotes would not bow out quietly as Christian Fischer would score in the first period, and Conor Garland (PPG) and Carl Soderberg (PPG) would tie the game up at three heading into the second intermission. After a scoreless third period and five minute overtime period, this game would require the shootout and it would be Conor Garland securing the 4-3 comeback victory for the Coyotes.

 

Buffalo Sabres v. Edmonton Oilers – 8p EST Start Time

The Buffalo Sabres continue their Western Canada trip with a stop in Edmonton to take on the Oilers. In the first period both Kyle Okposo and Johan Larsson would score for the Sabres as they would take an early 2-0 lead. then in the second period the Oilers would respond with goals from Riley Sheahan and Joakim Nygard to tie the game at two. After a scoreless third period it would be Colin Miller striking in overtime to give the Sabres the 3-2 victory.

Chicago Blackhawks v. Boston Bruins – 7p EST Start Time

In Boston the Bruins would play host to the Chicago Blackhawks, but it would be Chicago getting the upperhand as they would get first period goals from Ryan Carpenter (SHG) and Dylan Strome (PPG) to take the 2-0 lead. Then after a scoreless second period the Blackhawks would strike 17 seconds into the period with an Alex DeBrincat tally, but Joakim Nordstrom would net his third of the season to get on the Bruins on the board, and while shorthanded Chris Wagner would score his second of the seasons to get the Bruins within one. Then in what be Torey Krug striking late to tie the game at three and send the game to overtime, but in the extra frame it would be Jonathan Toews to clinch the victory for the Blackhawks 4-3.

 

Colorado Avalanche v. Montreal Canadiens – 7p EST Start Time

In Montreal the Colorado Avalanche would strike first against the Canadiens as they would get first period goals from Ryan Graves and Gabriel Landeskog to take the 2-0 lead. Then in the second period Matt Calvert would grow the Avalanche’s lead to three on a shorthanded tally, but Brendan Gallagher would strike late in the period to cut the Canadiens deficit back to two. Then in the third period the Nick Cousins would score on the powerplay to get the Canadiens within one of Colorado, but the Avalanche would hold on to win 3-2.

 

Minnesota Wild v. Tampa Bay Lightning – 7p EST Start Time

In Tampa Bay we would be treated to a goal fest as the Lightning play host to the Minnesota Wild. In the first period the Lightning would get goals from Erik Cernak and Mikhail Sergachev, but the Wild would get goals from Joel Eriksson Ek, Jason Zucker, and Carson Soucy to take the 3-2 lead. Then in the second period Victor Hedman would strike on the powerplay to tie the game at three, but Victor Rask would retake the lead for the Wild before the end of the period. Then in the third period Alex Killorn would score for the Lightning to tie the game up at four, but Mats Zuccarello would score eight seconds later to retake the lead for the Wild and secure the 5-4 victory.

 

Vegas Golden Knights v. New York Islanders – 7p EST Start Time

On Long Island the New York Islanders would take on the Vegas Golden Knights, and after a scoreless first period Cal Clutterbuck would strike first for the Islanders to take the 1-0 lead, but Alex Tuch would tie the game at one for Vegas. Then in the third period Brock Nelson would score his ninth of the season to give the Islanders the 2-1 lead, but Jonathan Marchessault would strike for the Golden Knights to tie the game back up at two. In overtime Ryan Pulock would score on the powerplay to secure the 3-2 victory for the Islanders.

 

Arizona Coyotes v. Philadelphia Flyers – 7p EST Start Time

In Philadelphia the Flyers would play host to the Arizona Coyotes. In the first period the Coyotes would strike first with a Phil Kessel powerplay tally to take the 1-0 lead. In the third period the Coyotes would grow their lead to two with a Conor Garland tally, but Matt Niskanen would get the Flyers on the board with his third of the season. However, Phil Kessel would score his second powerplay goal of the game to secure the Coyotes the 3-1 victory.

In the first period Andrei Svechnikov would strike 50 seconds into the game to give Carolina the 1-0 lead, but Marcus Sorensen would tie the game up at one with his fifth of the season. Then in the second period Jake Gardiner would score his second of the season to retake the lead for the Hurricanes, however, Logan Couture would strike with 18 seconds left in the period to tie the game at two. After a scoreless third period and overtime frame, this game would require the shootout to decide the winner, and it would be Andrei Svechnikov with the lone shootout goal to score the Hurricanes with the 3-2 victory

In Columbus Artemi Panarin would return with the New York Rangers to face his former team. In the first period Cam Atkinson would score first for the Blue Jackets, but with eight seconds left in the period Brendan Lemieux would strike for the Rangers to tie the game at one. Then in the second period Jacob Trouba (PPG) and Artemi Panarin would both strike for the Rangers to take the 3-1 lead. Then in the third period Seth Jones would score for the Jackets to cut their deficit to one, but it would not be enough aas the Rangers would defeat the Jackets 3-2.

In Dallas the Stars take on the Winnipeg Jets, and in the first period Jamie Benn would get the Stars on the board first with a powerplay tally for his sixth of the season. In the third period Blake Wheeler would score his seventh of the season to get the Jets on the board and cut their deficit to one, and then Mark Scheifele would net his eleventh of the season to tie the game at two and send the game to overtime. However, in the extra frame it would be Joe Pavelski netting his sixth of the season while on the powerplay to give the Stars the 3-2 victory.
