News
- The New Jersey Devils announced that defenseman Seamus Casey has undergone surgery.
- Casey had surgery on his right knee and is expected to miss 8-10 weeks.
- The PWHL announced their 2026-27 schedule.
- The PWHL also announced that they will now have two conferences and an updated playoff format.
- The Western Conference will feature PWHL Detroit, PWHL Las Vegas, Minnesota Frost, PWHL San Jose, Seattle Torrent, and Vancouver Goldeneyes.
- The Eastern Conference will feature Boston Fleet, PWHL Hamilton, Montreal Victoire, New York Sirens, Ottawa Charge, and Toronto Sceptres.
- Each team will play 30 games with 18 games against their own conference and 12 against the opposing conference.
- There will also be 24 Takeover games with each team playing in 4 each.
- The playoffs will now feature 8 teams with 4 from each conference, and will now be three rounds.
- The top seed in each conference will still be able to pick their first round opponent amongst the 3rd and 4th seeds in their conference.
- Franz Reindl has been elected the 15th president of the IIHF.
- He is the first German to hold the position since Dr. Gunther Sabetzki (1975-94).
- The term for the new President and Council will run from October 2026 to October 2030.
