- The NHL announced that they have named Boston Bruins forward Fraser Minten Rookie of the Month for January 2026.
- The NHL announced that they have named Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov First Star for the month of January 2026.
- David Pastrnak (BOS) and Evan Bouchard (EDM) would round out the rest of the Three Stars for January.

Los Angeles Kings v. Carolina Hurricanes – 3p ET
- In Carolina, the Hurricanes would return home to play host to the Los Angeles Kings, and in the first period, Jordan Staal would score on the powerplay to give the Hurricanes the 1-0 lead. Then after a scoreless second period, Alexander Nikishin would score to grow Carolina’s lead to 2, but goals from Samuel Helenius and Quinton Byfield would tie the game at 2 for the Kings to force overtime. In the extra frame, Sebastian Aho would score to give the Hurricanes the 3-2 overtime victory over the Kings.
Boston Bruins v. Tampa Bay Lightning – 630p ET – 2026 NHL Stadium Series
- At Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay for the 2026 NHL Stadium Series, the Lightning would play host to the Boston Bruins, and in the first period, Brandon Hagel would score 11 seconds into the game to give the Lightning the 1-0 lead, but goals from Alex Steeves, Morgan Geekie, and Viktor Arvidsson (PPG) would give the Bruins the 3-1 lead. In the second period, Matthew Poitras would score his first of the season and Geekie would score his second of the game to give the Bruins the 4 goal lead, but chaos would ensue as Oliver Bjorkstrand, Darren Raddysh, and Nick Paul would all score powerplay goals to get the Lightning back within one. One of the highlights of the second period would be the fight between Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman and Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy as things were getting really heated between the two teams. Then in the third period, Nikita Kucherov would score to tie the game at five for the Lightning to force overtime. After a scoreless extra five minutes of hockey, it would be Jake Guentzel with the shootout winner to complete the comeback for the Lightning to defeat the Bruins 6-5.
