TXHT Daily – Happy New Year

News and Notes from Wednesday, December 31st, 2025

News

  • In the PWHL, the PWHL Player Safety Committee announced that they have suspended Seattle Torrent defender Aneta Tejralová.
    • Tejralová was suspended for two games for an illegal check to the head of New York Sirens forward Sarah Fillier on Sunday, Dec. 28th.
    • In their review, the PWHL Player Safety Committee determined that Tejralová delivered a high, forceful, predatory check that made her opponent’s head the main point of contact on a play where such contact to the head was avoidable.

  • The Buffalo Sabres announced that goaltender Alex Lyons has returned to Buffalo to have his lower-body injury evaluated.
    • “We’ll let our doctors take a look,” Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff said. “We know it’s going to be a bit of time.”

  • The Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins made a trade.
    • The Flyers acquired forward Philip Tomasino.
    • The Penguins acquired defenseman Egor Zamula.
