Chicago Blackhawks v. Boston Bruins – 7p ET
- In Boston from their home opener, the Bruins played host to the Chicago Blackhawks, and in the first period Casey Mittelstadt opened the scoring for the Bruins, but Connor Bedard would net his first of the season to tie the game at one for the Blackhawks. In the second period, Louis Crevier scored to give the Blackhawks the lead, but Tanner Jeannot’s first as a Bruin would tie the game at two. Then in the third period, Elias Lindholm scored to give the Bruins the 3-2 lead, but Andre Burakovsky would respond with his first goal as a Blackhawk to tie the game at three to force overtime. In the extra frame, Fraser Minten would score to give the Bruins the 4-3 overtime victory over the Blackhawks.
New York Rangers v. Buffalo Sabres – 7p ET
- In Buffalo, the Sabres take on the New York Rangers for their home opener, and in the first period Alexis Lafreniere would strike first for the Rangers to take the 1-0 lead. Then after a scoreless second period, Carson Soucy (SHG), J.T. Miller (SHG), and Adam Fox (ENG) all scored their first goals of the season to give the Rangers the 4-0 victory over the Sabres. Igor Shesterkin would stop all 37 shots faced to earn the shutout.
Montreal Canadiens v. Detroit Red Wings – 7p ET
- In Detroit, the Red Wings begin their centennial season as they host the Montreal Canadiens, and in the first period Dylan Larkin would open the scoring with a powerplay tally to give the Wings the 1-0 lead, but goals from Zack Bolduc, Oliver Kapanen, and Mike Matheson would give the Canadiens the 3-1 lead. In the second period, Bolduc would net his second of the game to and Jaroslav Slafkovsky would score to give the Canadiens the commanding 5-1 lead. After a scoreless third period, the Canadiens would spoil the Red Wings home opener with the 5-1 victory.
Ottawa Senators v. Tampa Bay Lightning – 7p ET
- In Tampa Bay, the Ottawa Senators come to town to take on the Lightning, and in the first period, Oliver Bjorkstrand (PPG) and Brayden Point struck in the first seven minutes to give the Lightning the 2-0 lead, but Dylan Cozens would strike while on the powerplay to get the Senators back within one. However, while on the powerplay, Nikita Kucherov would score to give the Lightning the 3-1 lead. In the second period Artem Zub and Shane Pinto would score to tie the game at three for the Senators. Then in the third period, Pinto would net his second of the game and Claude Giroux would get an empty netter for the 5-3 lead. Kucherov would net his second of the game, but it would be too little too late as the Senators would hold on to defeat the Lightning 5-4.
Philadelphia Flyers v. Florida Panthers – 7p ET
- In Florida, the Panthers would play host to the Philadelphia Flyers, and after a scoreless first period Anton Lundell would open the scoring fort he Panthers while on the powerplay, but late in the period, Noah Cates would net his first of the season to tie the game at one for the Flyers. Then in the third period, Brad Marchand would strike early to give the Panthers the 2-1 victory over the Flyers.
New York Islanders v. Pittsburgh Penguins – 7p ET
- In Pittsburgh, not only did the Penguins debut a new alternate jersey, but New York Islanders defenseman Matthew Schaefer, 1st overall 2025 draft pick, made his NHL debut, and in the first period Evgeni Malkin kicked things off with a powerplay goal to give the Penguins the 1-0 lead. However, later in the period Jonathan Drouin scored his first goal as an Islander, and Schaefer recorded his first career NHL point, to tie the game at one. In the second period, Kyle Palmieri scored for the Islanders to take the 2-1 lead, but Harrison Brunicke’s first career NHL goal and Sidney Crosby’s first of the season would give the Penguins the 3-2 lead. However, with 39 seconds remaining in the period, Max Shabanov scored his first career NHL goal to tie the game at three for the Islanders. Then in the third period, Justin Brazeau would score his third of the season to give the Penguins the 4-3
New Jersey Devils v. Carolina Hurricanes – 730p ET
- In Carolina, the New Jersey Devils come to town to faceoff with the Hurricanes, and in the first period Taylor Hall scored to give the Hurricanes the 1-0 lead. In the second period, Dougie Hamilton scored his first of the season to get the Devils tied at one, but K’Andre Miller would net his first goal as a Hurricane to retake the lead for the Hurricanes. However, later in the period, Cody Glass would score to tie the game at two for the Devils. Then in the third period, Miller would net his second of the game for the Hurricanes to take the 3-2 lead, but Jesper Bratt’s first goal of the season would tie the game at three for the Devils. However, later in the period, Seth Jarvis would score a pair of goals and Eric Robinson would score to give the Hurricanes the 6-3 victory over the Devils.
Minnesota Wild v. St. Louis Blues – 8p ET
- In St. Louis, the new look Blues play host to the Minnesota Wild, and in the first period Ryan Hartman and Matt Boldy both scored to give the Wild the 2-0 lead. In the second period, Joel Eriksson Ek would strike while on the powerplay and Hartman would net his second of the game to grow the Wild’s lead to four. Then in the third period, Marco Rossi would score to give the Wild the dominating 5-0 victory over the Blues. Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson would stop all 27 shots faced to earn the shutout.
Columbus Blue Jackets v. Nashville Predators – 8p ET
- In Nashville, the Columbus Blue Jackets come to visit the Predators, and in the first period Michael Bunting opened the scoring for the Predators, but Dmitri Voronkov would score to tie the game at one for the Jackets. Then after a scoreless second period, Ryan O’Reilly would score on the powerplay to give the Predators the 2-1 victory over the Blue Jackets.
Dallas Stars v. Winnipeg Jets – 8p ET
- In Winnipeg, Jonathan Toews makes his return to the NHL with his hometown Jets as they play host to the Dallas Stars, and in the first period, Mikko Rantanen opened the scoring for the Stars, but moments later, Kyle Connor would score to tie the game at one for the Jets. However, later in the period, Nils Lindkvist would score his first of the season to retake the lead for the Stars. Then after a scoreless second period, Jason Robertson (PPG), Tyler Seguin, and Wyatt Johnston all scored to give the Stars the 5-1 lead, but a pair of shorthanded goals from Morgan Barron and Kyle Connor would get the Jets back within two, and Connor would net another to complete the hat trick to get the Jets back within one. However, it would not be enough as the Stars would hold on to defeat the Jets 5-4.
