- Connor signed a new 8 year deal which will carry an AAV of $12 million per season.
- The Edmonton Oiler announced that they have re-signed defenseman Mattias Ekholm.
- Ekholm signed a three year deal that carries an AAV of $4 million per season.
- The Vegas Golden Knights announced that they have re-signed forward Jack Eichel.
- Eichel signed an 8 year deal with an AAV of $13.5 million per season.

Montreal Canadiens v. Toronto Maple Leafs – 7p ET
- In Toronto, the Maple Leafs played host to the Montreal Canadiens to start their 2025-26 season, and in the first period, Bobby McMann opened the scoring for the Leafs, but Oliver Kapanen would score his first career NHL goal to tie the game at one for the Canadiens. In the second period, Zac Bolduc scored his first as a Canadien to give Montreal the 2-1 lead, but a tally from Calle Jarnkrok would tie the gane two for the Leafs. Then in the third period, Morgan Reilly would score, and then a pair of empty net goals from Auston Matthews and William Nylander would give the Maple Leafs the 5-2 victory over the Canadiens.
Boston Bruins v. Washington Capitals – 730p ET
- In Washington, DC, the Boston Bruins would come to town to take on the Capitals to start their seasons. After a scoreless first period, David Pastrnak would strike first for the Bruins to take the 1-0 lead. Then in the third period, Tom Wilson wouod score to tie the game at one for the Capitals, bit a powerplay tally from Elias Lindholm and an empty netter by Morgan Geekie would give the Bruins the 3-1 victory over the Capitals.
