Welcome to the TXHT PHF Weekend Recap for the Weekend of Friday, February 3rd through Monday, February 6th, 2023, plus news coming out of the weekend.
Friday, February 3rd, 2023
Game #1 – Connecticut Whale v. Metropolitan Riveters
- In New Jersey the Metropolitan Riveters would play host to the Connecticut Whale, and after a scoreless first period Fanni Garat-Gasparics would score to give the Rivs the 1-0 lead. Then in the third period Taylor Girard would score for the Whale to tie the game at one and force overtime. After a scoreless extra five minutes of hockey it would be Minttu Tuominen with the winner in the shootout as the Riveters would go on to defeat the Whale 2-1.
Saturday, February 4th, 2023
Game #1 – Buffalo Beauts v. Toronto Six
- In Toronto the Buffalo Beauts would come to town to take on the Six, and after a scoreless first period Shiann Darkangelo would net a pair of goals to give the Six the 2-0 lead. Then in the third period Michela Cava would score to give the Six the 3-0 victory over the Beauts.
Game #2 – Minnesota Whitecaps v. Montreal Force
Game #3 – Metropolitan Riveters v. Boston Pride
- In Boston the Pride would play host to the Metropolitan Riveters, and in the first period Sammy Davis would score to give the Pride the 1-0 lead. Then after a scoreless second period Allie Thunstrom, Jillian Dempsey, Loren Gabel, and Kaleigh Fratkin would score to give the Pride the 5-0 victory over the Riveters.
Sunday, February 5th, 2023
Game #1 – Minnesota Whitecaps v. Montreal Force
- In Montreal the Force and the Minnesota Whitecaps would finally get to go to battle, and in the first period Catherine Daoust would score for the Force, but a tally from Jonna Albers would tie the game at one for the Whitecaps. Then after a scoreless second period Liz Schepers, Sidney Morin, and Brittyn Fleming would score to give the Whitecaps the 4-1 victory over the Force.
Game #2 – Connecticut Whale v. Boston Pride
- In Boston the Pride would close out their weekend by hosting the Connecticut Whale, and in the first period Loren Gabel and Taylor House would score for the Pride to take the 2-0 lead, but Alyssa Wohlfeiler would score to get the Whale on the board and back within one. In the second period Gabel would net her second of the game and Jillian Dempsey would score to give the Pride the 4-1 lead. Then in the third period Caitrin Lonegran would score for the Whale, but a tally from Elizabeth Giguere would score to give the Pride the 5-2 victory over the Whale.
Game #3 – Buffalo Beauts v. Toronto Six
- Back in Toronto the Six would take on the Buffalo Beauts for the second game of their weekend series, and in the first period both teams would net a pair of goals as Emma Nuutinen and Madi Nichols would score for the Beauts while Lexi Templeman and Brianne Wilson-Bennett would score for the Six for the 2-2 tie. In the second period Shiann Darkangelo, Brooke Boquist, and Emma Woods would score to give the Six the 5-2 lead. Then in the third period Daryl Watts and Michela Cava would score to give the Six the dominating 7-2 victory over the Beauts.
Monday, February 6th, 2023
- Game #1 – Minnesota Whitecaps v. Montreal Force
- In Montreal for a rare Monday afternoon game the Force would play host to the Minnesota Whitecaps, and in the first period Ann-Sophie Bettez would strike for the Force, but goals from Brittyn Fleming and Ashleigh Brykaliuk would give the Whitecaps the 2-1 lead. In the second period Denisa Krizova would score to give the Whitecaps the two goal lead. Then in the third period Alexandra Labelle would score to get the Force back within one, but it wouldn’t be enough as the Whitecaps would hold on to defeat the Force 3-2.
News and Notes
- The PHF announced that Connecticut Whale forward Kennedy Marchment was named Player of the Month for January.
- Marchment would record nine goals and five assists for 14 points in eight games played for the Whale.

3 Stars of the Week
First Star – Loren Gabel (BOS)
- In two games played for the Boston Pride Loren Gabel would record three goals and four assists for seven points. In Saturday’s 5-0 victory over Metropolitan Gabel would record a goal and two assists. Then on Sunday in a5-2 victory over Connecticut she would record two goals and two assists.
Second Star – Shiann Darkangelo (TOR)
- Shiann Darkangelo would record three goals and one assist in two games played for the Toronto Six. She would record two goals in a 3-0 victory over Buffalo on Saturday, and then on Sunday to close out the weekend series she would record a goal and an assist in a 7-2 victory over Buffalo.
Third Star – Corinne Schroeder (BOS)
- Corinne Schroeder would go a perfect 2 for 2 as she would stop 82 of the 84 shots that she would face for the weekend for the Boston Pride. Schroeder would open the weekend with 34 saves in a 3-0 shutout victory over Metropolitan on Saturday, and then on Sunday she would make 48 saves in a 5-2 victory over Connecticut.
