- The Washington Capitals and Carolina Hurricanes unveiled their 2023 Stadium Series Logos.


- The NHL announced that for the second week in a row Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin has been named the First Star of the Week.
- Alexander Georgiev (COL) and Elias Pettersson (VAN) would round out the rest of the Three Stars.
- NHL Stars of the Week – History Earns Ovi Top Honors Second Week in a Row
- Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin would net a pair of goals on Friday night against the Winnipeg Jets to tie and surpass Gordie Howe for second all time in goals scored in the NHL.
- Ovechkin is now 92 goals shy from tying Wayne Gretzky for most goals all time.
- On Friday the NHL Department of Player Safety suspended Minnesota Wild forward Mason Shaw.
- Shaw was suspended two games for kneeing San Jose Sharks forward Evgeny Svechnikov on Thursday night.
- Shaw will forfeit $8,108.10 in salary based on his average annual salary per the terms of the CBA.
