2022-23 Preview
Where to begin. It’s well known that Toronto has not been past the first round of the postseason since 2004. The core is still strong despite another disappointment in the postseason with six consecutive losses in the first round.
Toronto set franchise records in wins (54) and points (115) and look to have thesame type of success this season. However, there will be a change in net with Jack Campbell now playing for the Edmonton Oilers. Matt Murray and Ilya Samsonov are now going to battle for the starting position in net.
There were some slight tweaks also made across the line-up, with no big deals made due to their very complicated cap situation. Calle Jarnkrok, Adam Gaudette, and Nicolas Aube-Kubel will all battle in camp to earn their ways to the main roster.
The question here for the Maple Leafs is this. Is this team as presently constructed have the nucleus to get past the first round of the postseason? This writer certainly hopes that Toronto can achieve that goal.
