2022-23 Preview
Oh man, where to start? The Chicago Blackhawks are going to be a complete dumpster fire this season, and for a quite a while too. Gone are Dominik Kubalik and Dylan Strome, for whom they just let walk in free agency. Gone are Alex DeBrincat and Kirby Dach via trade and with little return. Their offseason pickups lack little desire as Petr Mrazek is coming off possibly his worst season in Toronto, Max Domi is always a hot and cold player, and Andreas Athanasiou has never really been able to establish himself in the NHL. Jack Johnson is coming off winning a Stanley Cup with Colorado, but is nearing the end of his career.
Both Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane are both in the last year of their deals, and both could very well be dealt by the Trade Deadline. However, one has to ask what type of return they would get for them given the lackluster returns they’ve gotten for both DeBrincat and Dach combined.
It’s going to be a long season in Chicago.
