2022-23 Preview
In an interesting move the Boston Bruins fired head coach Bruce Cassidy two weeks after telling him his job was secure, and now Jim Montgomery is at the helm with thoughts that this will improve the club by having a new voice on the bench. The goaltending duo of Linus Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman is a bright spot for the Bruins, especially with Swayman having a wonderful breakout year last season. The chemistry, competitiveness, and comradery between the two makes for a fantastic goaltending duo in Boston.
On offense the Bruins are getting back center David Krejci after returning home last season to Czechia, but what impact will he really have on an aging Bruins team? Patrice Bergeron also is returning for this season after signing a one year deal. Brad Marchand is going to miss the start of the season due to injury, and David Pastrnak is in the last year of his contract so there is going to be pressure mounting for success this season.
On defense both Charlie McAvoy and Matt Grzelcyk will start the season on the injured list which will deplete the core for a bit until they return. Hampus Lindholm and Brandon Carlo are going to be looked to log extra minutes until both return to the lineup.
The Bruins will have a good season, but this could be a season they miss the playoffs, especially with other teams taking more steps forward than the Bruins have.
