2022-23 Preview
The rebuilding Anaheim Ducks look to make some strides this season as they look to continue to grow and develop with their young players. However, they’re going to have to do it without longtime captain Ryan Getzlaf who retired at the end of last season. Trevor Zegras is looking to build off of a spectacular rookie season, but the Ducks will be looking for more from him as they want to see his faceoffs and backchecking improve. The fancy plays to get the goals will be a part of his game, and for the betterment of the game too, but if he can’t improve defensively, then he may struggle in his sophomore season.
The Ducks defense is rather thin after trading away Hampus Lindholm and Josh Manson at the deadline last season, but they picked up John Klingberg on a one year deal and he will help things out while some of their younger defensemen continue to develop. Jamie Drysdale will look to become more consistent on the blue line for the Ducks.
The Ducks may not be a playoff contender yet, but they are trending upwards, and will be an interesting team to keep an eye on this season.
