This Series Goes to Seven

Game 6 of the series between the Carolina Hurricanes and the New York Rangers took place tonight. With a win, the Hurricanes would move on to the Eastern Conference finals and a date with the Tampa Bay Lightning. While a Rangers win would bring the series back to Raleigh, for an all important Game 7.

Here is how the two teams would line up:

In the first period, it would be the home town Rangers who would get on the board first. The goal would come from Tyler Motte, it would be his second goal of the playoffs. The play was unassisted.

Before the end of the first period, the Rangers would double their lead in the game. The goal would be scored by Mika Zibanejad, his seventh goal of the playoffs. The assists on the play would come from Adam Fox, and Igor Shesterkin, his second point of the playoffs. The goal would come via the power play. The Rangers would take a 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission.

In the second period, the Rangers would increase their lead, getting an insurance goal. The goal would come from Filip Chytil, his third goal of the playoffs. The lone assist on the play would come from Adam Fox, his second point of the game.

Two minutes later, the Hurricanes would cut into the Ranger lead. The goal would come from Brady Skjei, his first goal of the playoffs. The assists on the play would come from Sebastian Aho and Seth Jarvis.

The Rangers would re-establish their three goal lead a minute later. The goal would come from Filip Chytil, his fourth goal of the playoffs, and his second goal of the game. The assists on the play came from Alexis Lafreniere and Igor Shesterkin, his second assist of the game, and third point of the playoffs.

Before the end of the second, the Hurricanes would make it a two goal game again. The goal coming from Vincent Trocheck, his fifth goal of the playoffs. The assists on the play coming from Martin Necas and Brady Skjei, his second point of the game. The Rangers would have a 4-2 lead heading into the second intermission.

In the third period, the Rangers would once again re-establish their three goal lead in the game. The goal would come from Artemi Panarin, his fourth goal of the playoffs. The assists on the play coming from Chris Kreider and Ryan Strome. The goal would come via the power play, their second of the game.

Then Rangers would hold on to win the game by a score of 5-2. The series now goes to an all decisive Game 7.
