Tonight would continue the theme of a rough season for the New Jersey Devils as they play their second to last game of this season as they take on the Carolina Hurricanes on the road. The Devils did not have a very good and it began with a first period goal by Ethan Bear who wristed a shot from the point and in for his fifth goal of the season. It would be 1-0 in favor of the Hurricanes after the first period.
Period two saw things continue to unravel for New Jersey as three times as they got goals from Martin Necas, Jesperi Kotkaniemi, and a late goal from Teuvo Teravainen. The Devils did get one from Fabian Zetterlund as he fired a wrist shot from the slot for his second goal of the season. Carolina would have a 4-1 lead heading into the third period.
Steven Lorentz and Jordan Martinook added onto Carolina’s lead while Jesper Bratt and Jimmy Vesey were able to get the game within two goals. Unfortunately for the Devils, it was far too late as the Carolina Hurricanes went onto win by a final score of 6-3. New Jersey closes out their season tomorrow night at home against the Detroit Red Wings.
