New Jersey Devils (27-44-8 62pts) vs
Detroit Red Wings (31-39-10 72pts)
Game Recap:
Today was a depleted lineup for both teams as the New Jersey Devils host the Detroit Red Wings. Coming off an overtime loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, the Devils hope to redeem themselves and get back n the win column as the regular season is about to finish up. Period one lacked a lot of action with very few shots on net and scoring chances. Neither the Devils or Red Wings could get on the scoreboard and it would remain scoreless heading into the second period.
Detroit got on the board first thanks to Oskar Sundqvist who take an offensive turnover at the offensive zone right circle and fire a shot that would beat goalie Andrew Hammond for a 1-0 lead. After the Sundqvist goal, it would remain rather quiet as the Detroit Red Wings carried their lead into the intermission with hopes of finishing up the game with a victory in period three.
Just like the previous two periods, it would remain the same way until later on in the third period when the Detroit Red Wings would get two empty net goals by Tyler Bertuzzi and Michael Rasmussen who helped seal the victory by the final score of 3-0. Goalie Alex Nedeljkovich made 17 saves as he earned the shutout and was very solid all game long. Next time we see the New Jersey Devils in action will be on Tuesday night as they head north of the border to take on the Ottawa Senators begging the first of the last three games as the regular season sadly comes to a close for the team.
