Hello, once again Ladies and Gentleman! The Montreal Canadiens had a four game slate over the week, and despite the season debut of G Carey Price late in the week, the Canadiens would go winless on the week.
With that being said, let’s dive into the recaps of the games over the past week.
Monday, April 11th, 2022: Winnipeg Jets at Montreal Canadiens

Game Recap: In Montreal, the Canadiens host the Jets for the lone time this season and after a scoreless first period, Joel Armia gets Montreal on the board early in the second with his sixth of the year. However, Winnipeg ties the game when Morgan Barron strikes with his first of the season and then Paul Stastny nets his 20th of the season to give the Jets the 2-1 lead. In the third period, Montreal ties the game when Josh Anderson scores his 18th of the year but then Evgeni Svechnikov nets his seventh to give the Jets the 3-2 lead. Winnipeg then seals the win after Adam Lowry hits the empty net goal, his 12th of the year, to give the Jets the 4-2 win over the Canadiens.
Areas to Focus On Going Into Next Contest: Getting more shots off and getting those shots into the net.
Next Contest: Wednesday, April 13th, 2022 at Columbus Blue Jackets
Wednesday, April 13th, 2022: Montreal Canadiens at Columbus Blue Jackets

Game Recap: In Columbus, the Canadiens face off against the Blue Jackets for the final time on the season and in the first period Columbus takes the 1-0 lead after Jack Roslovic scores his 16th of the year. In the second, Roslovic nets his second of the game to give the Jackets the 2-0 lead and then Patrik Laine scores a power play goal, his 26th of the year, to give Columbus the 3-0 lead. Montreal then gets on the board after Ryan Poehling nets his sixth of the year. In the third, Columbus takes the 4-1 lead after Cole Sillinger nets his 13th of the year and then they will clinch the win after Emil Bemstrom scores his sixth of the year as the Blue Jackets get the 5-1 win over the Canadiens.
Areas to Focus On Going Into Next Contest: Convert on the power play more.

Game Recap: In Montreal, Carey Price would make his season debut in net for the first time since Game 5 of the 2021 Stanley Cup Final and after a scoreless first and second period, the Islanders would take the 1-0 lead in the third after Zach Parise scores his 15th of the year. Then, Noah Dobson scores his 11th of the year to give the Isles the 2-0 lead and then New York seals the win with an empty net goal by Brock Nelson, his 34th, to give the the Islanders the 3-0 shutout win over the Canadiens.
Areas to Focus On Going Into Next Contest: Get the puck in the net. It was a good outing for Carey Price in his first game of the year and flaws were to be expected.

Saturday, April 16th, 2022: Washington Capitals at Montreal Canadiens

Game Recap: In Montreal, the Capitals and Canadiens face off for the final time on the season and in the first period, Washington takes the 1-0 lead after Nic Dowd scores his 10th of the year. In the second, Jake Evans ties the game with his 11th on the year, but then Washington re-takes the lead when Anthony Mantha gets a pair of goals to take the 3-1 lead. Montreal then comes within a goal when Ryan Poehling nets his seventh of the year but then the Capitals take the two goal lead once more when Alex Ovechkin notches his 47th of the year. In the third, Ryan Poehling scores his second of the game to bring the Habs within a goal once more but then Garnet Hathaway nets his 13th of the year to make it a 5-3 Caps lead. Washington then takes the three goal lead when Dmitry Orlov scores his 12th of the year and then Justin Schultz scores his third on the power play to make it a 7-3 Capitals lead. Nick Suzuki then brings the Habs within three with his 20th of the year but Washington seals the win after T.J. Oshie scores on the power play, good for his 10th goal of the year, as the Capitals get the 8-4 win over the Canadiens.
Areas to Focus On Going Into Next Contest: Don’t fall for the penalties and stay away from the box.
