Hello, once again Ladies and Gentleman! Montreal would go 2-1-0 in the three games that were played. With that being said, let’s go ahead and take a look at the games played over the last week.
Tuesday, March 1st, 2022: Montreal Canadiens at Winnipeg Jets
Game Recap: In Winnipeg, the Canadiens make their lone trip to face the Jets and in the first period there would be a seven goal outburst. Winnipeg would get four goals when Evgeny Svechnikov scores his sixth, Nate Schmidt scores his fourth, Adam Lowry scoring his seventh and Mark Scheifele scoring his 19th to give the Jets the 4-0 lead. Then Montreal scores three goals when Josh Anderson scores a pair, his 13th and 14th of the year, and Artturi Lehkonen scoring his 10th. In the second, Josh Anderson completes the hat trick to tie the game for the Habs but Winnipeg re-takes the lead when Andrew Copp scores his 13th of the year. In the third, Mark Scheifele nets his second of the game, Pierre-Luc Dubois nets his 22nd, and Paul Stastny nets his 13th of the year as the Jets fly by the Canadiens for the 8-4 win.
Areas to Focus On Going Into Next Contest: Well, a win streak had to end. Go back and study the film and figure out where the slip ups were. Letting four goals in without having a response is usually a recipe for disaster. Figure out how to not let this happen and then things should be fine.
Next Contest: Thursday, March 3rd, 2022 at Calgary Flames
Thursday, March 3rd, 2022: Montreal Canadiens at Calgary Flames
Game Recap: In Calgary the Flames would host the Montreal Canadiens, and in the first period Blake Coleman would strike first for the Flames, but Jeff Petry would score to tie the game at one for the Habs. In the second period Johnny Gaudreau and Andrew Mangiapane would strike to give the Flames the 3-1 lead, but Nick Suzuki would score to cut the Habs deficit to one. In the third, Ben Chiarot ties the game when he nets his sixth of the year and then the Habs take the 4-3 lead when Mike Hoffman nets his 10th of the year. Elias Lindholm then nets his 25th of the year to make it a 4-4 game but in the overtime session, Ben Chiarot nets his second of the game to give Montreal the 5-4 win over Calgary.
Areas to Focus On Going Into Next Contest: Don’t let up. Get your shots off and find the back of the net as much as possible. Avoid slip-ups and finish off the opponents in 60.
