New Jersey Devils (17-27-5 39pts) vs
Pittsburgh Penguins (30-11-8 68pts)
Game Recap:
The New Jersey Devils look to be super on Super Bowl Sunday as they face off on the ice against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Period one was very quiet and remained scoreless until the second period where Jack Hughes got the Devils on the board by scoring his thirteenth goal of the season as he fired a wrist shot from the left circle and in. However the Penguins responded a little later on thanks to a Mike Matheson laser of a shot from the point to tie the game. The score would be tied 1-1 after the second period.
Bryan Rust gave the Penguins an early third period lead as he tipped in a shot from Kris Letang to make it 2-1 in favor of Pittsburgh. After a couple minutes, Nico Hischier tied the game for the Devils for his thirteenth of the year firing the puck off the post and in. Unfortunately for New Jersey, Bryan Boyle have the Pens the lead and Jake Guentzel added an empty net goal to seal the victory for them by a final score of 4-2. Next time we see the Devils, they will host the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday evening.
