News

  • The Ottawa Senators have named Brady Tkachuk captain.
    • Tkachuk becomes the tenth captain in franchise history.

  • The Columbus Blue Jackets have announced that forward Patrik Laine has been placed on injured reserve.
    • Laine is expected to miss 4-6 weeks due to an oblique strain.

  • The Washington Capitals announced that forward Anthony Mantha underwent successful shoulder surgery and will be out indefinitely.

  • The Capitals also placed Mantha on injured reserve and recalled forward Aliaksei Protas from Hershey.

  • The Montreal Canadiens announced that goaltender Carey Price will be rejoining the team on Monday.
    • Price will meet with the team’s athletic therapists to develop a plan moving forward.

  • The NHL Department of Player Safety announced that they have suspended Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Mikhail Sergachev.
    • Sergachev has been suspended for two games for doing an illegal check to the head of Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner on Thursday night.
    • Sergachev will forfeit $48,000 per the CBA based on his average annual salary.

  • DoPS also announced that they have fined Calgary Flames forward Matthew Tkachuk.
    • Tkachuk was fined $5,000 for high sticking Dallas Stars defenseman John Klingberg on Thursday night.
    • The fine is the maximum allowed under the CBA.

  • Chicago Blackhawks v. Winnipeg Jets – 8p ET
    • In Winnipeg the Jets would take on the Chicago Blackhawks, and in the first period Paul Stastny would score 47 seconds into the game and then Neal Pionk would strike less than two minutes later to give the Jets the fast 2-0 lead. In the second period Dominic Toninato and Kyle Connorwould both score to grow the Jets lead to four. Then in the third period MacKenzie Entwistle would score while shorthanded to get the Blackhawks on the board, but Nikolaj Ehlers would score to give the Jets the 5-1 victory.

  • New York Rangers v. Edmonton Oilers – 9p ET
    • In Edmonton the Oilers would host the New York Rangers, and less than two minutes into the game Filip Chytil would score to give the Rangers the 1-0 lead, but Zach Hyman would score to tie the game at one for the Oilers. In the second period Kevin Rooney, Chris Kreider, and Mika Zibanejad would score for the Rangers to take the 4-1 lead. However, before the second period was over Jesse Puljujarvi would score for the Oilers. Then in the third period Tyson Barrie and Puljujarvi would score to tie the game at four for the Oilers, but Zibanejad would score his second of the game to give the Rangers the 5-4 lead. However, Connor McDavid would score to tie the game at five. In the extra frame Leon Draisaitl would score to give the Oilers the 6-5 victory.

  • Nashville Predators v. Vancouver Canucks – 10p ET
    • In Vancouver the Canucks would host the Nashville Predators, and in the first period Roman Josi would strike on the powerplay to give the Preds the 1-0 lead, but before the period would end Brock Boeser would score to tie the game at one. In the second period Nils Hoglander would score for the Canucks, but goals from Matt Duchene and Philip Tomasino would give the Preds the 3-2 lead. The Predators would hold the Canucks scoreless in the third period to take the 3-2 victory.
  • Arizona Coyotes v. Anaheim Ducks – 10p ET
    • In Anaheim the Mighty Ducks would honor Ryan Getzlaf before taking on the Arizona Coyotes, and in the first period Adam Henrique and Sonny Milano would score to give the Ducks the 2-0 lead. In the second period Sam Carrick would score to give the Ducks the three goal lead. Then in the third period Shayne Gostisbehere would score for the Coyotes with 8 seconds left in the game, but the Ducks would hold on to win 3-1.
  • New Jersey Devils v. Los Angeles Kings – 1030p ET
    • In Los Angeles the Kings would play host to the New Jersey Devils, and after a scoreless first period Adrian Kempe would score to get the Kings on the board with the 1-0 lead. Then in the third period Arthur Kaliyev would score for the Kings, but goals from Jesper Bratt and Pavel Zacha would tie the game at two for the Devils to send the game to overtime. In the extra frame Alex Iafallo would score to give the Kings the 3-2 victory.
