Danbury, CT- Defender Taylor Marchin has signed on for her fourth consecutive season with the Connecticut Whale for the 2021-2022 season.

“I am definitely beyond excited and grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Whale this upcoming season,” said Marchin. “It is apparent that both the team and the league are making great strides, so continuing to be a part of that feels awesome.”

Marchin first joined the Whale for the 2018-19 season and has made Connecticut her home during her NWHL career. The 27-year-old has played in 41 regular-season games with the Pod in addition to four playoff contests. Before she joined the Whale, she played for a season with the Kunlun Red Stars of the CWHL, where she tallied nine assists in 22 regular-season games and added a goal in four postseason games.

“Taylor’s work ethic and commitment to a gritty style of play have tremendous value on both blue lines. She battles every shift blocking shots and standing up to her opponents. We are excited to have her back and look forward to seeing the results of her hard work in the off season,” said General Manager Alexis Moed.

The Algonac, MI native played for four years at Yale University. She held an ironman streak of 123 consecutive games played and finished with 57 career points (21G, 36A). During her senior season, she was named to the All-Ivy League second team and was the inaugural winner of the team’s “Big Dog” award for blocking the most shots.

Marchin is the team’s 17th signing this offseason. She will join fellow defenders Hannah Bates, Rebecca Morse, Tori Howran, Hanna Beattie, and Allie Munroe on the Whale’s back end.
