Some news coming out of Danbury today, as the Connecticut Whale bring back a veteran defender for Season 7.
The defender, who hails from Algonac, MI, will be playing her fourth year in the league and her fourth year with the Whale. She brings plenty of NWHL playing experience, as she’s played 41 career games. In those 41 games, she’s tallied 3 assists, has 39 registered blocked shots, and has 14 career takeaways.

TAYLOR MARCHIN JOINS POD FOR FOURTH SEASON

Danbury, CT- Defender Taylor Marchin has signed on for her fourth consecutive season with the Connecticut Whale for the 2021-2022 season.
“I am deﬁnitely beyond excited and grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Whale this upcoming season,” said Marchin. “It is apparent that both the team and the league are making great strides, so continuing to be a part of that feels awesome.”
Marchin ﬁrst joined the Whale for the 2018-19 season and has made Connecticut her home during her NWHL career. The 27-year-old has played in 41 regular-season games with the Pod in addition to four playoﬀ contests. Before she joined the Whale, she played for a season with the Kunlun Red Stars of the CWHL, where she tallied nine assists in 22 regular-season games and added a goal in four postseason games.
“Taylor’s work ethic and commitment to a gritty style of play have tremendous value on both blue lines. She battles every shift blocking shots and standing up to her opponents. We are excited to have her back and look forward to seeing the results of her hard work in the oﬀ season,” said General Manager Alexis Moed.
The Algonac, MI native played for four years at Yale University. She held an ironman streak of 123 consecutive games played and ﬁnished with 57 career points (21G, 36A). During her senior season, she was named to the All-Ivy League second team and was the inaugural winner of the team’s “Big Dog” award for blocking the most shots.
Marchin is the team’s 17th signing this oﬀseason. She will join fellow defenders Hannah Bates, Rebecca Morse, Tori Howran, Hanna Beattie, and Allie Munroe on the Whale’s back end.
