ANDERSON REJOINS THE POD FOR FIFTH SEASON
by Mario Forno
Danbury, CT- Four-year Whale forward Kaycie Anderson is returning for her fifth season in Connecticut. On Monday the club announced that the NWHL veteran has signed a contract for the upcoming 2021-22 season.
“I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to suit up for the Whale for my fifth season,” said Anderson. “I cannot wait to get back on the ice with the Pod in front of the best fans for Season 7.”
During her four years with the Whale, Anderson has put up 14 points (5G, 9A) in 47 total games played. The Maple Plain, Minnesota native had her best season in 2019-20 when she tied for the team lead in scoring with three goals and eight assists.
“We are very excited to have Kaycie returning for her fifth season with the Whale. She led the team in scoring two seasons ago and is a player that is trusted to play up and down the lineup,” said head coach Colton Orr. “Kaycie has strong attention to detail and a great work ethic pushing her teammates to make them better. She continues to improve her game every season, and we know she will come ready to compete again this season.”
Before signing in the NWHL, Anderson played her college hockey at Norwich University where she made a significant impact in her four years there. During her freshman year, Anderson broke every rookie scoring record, finishing second on the team with 23 goals and third with 27 assists, including five power play goals and four game-winning tallies. “I’ve had so much fun being a part of the growth of the NWHL and the Whale organization over the past few seasons and can’t wait to continue growing the game alongside so many passionate and inspirational women,” said Anderson on her return to Connecticut.
Anderson is the ninth forward that Connecticut has signed during the off-season joining Emma Vlasic, Alyssa Wohlfeiler, Kennedy Marchment, Cailey Hutchison, Taylor Girard, Emma Polaski, Catherine Crawley, and Janine Weber.
