Crawley Signs With The Whale

A nugget of news out of the NWHL today, as the Connecticut Whale have made another signing to their roster for Season 7.

The rookie forward, who hails from Washingtonville, NY, played 4 years of college hockey. All 4 years were spent at the University of Connecticut. During her 4 years there, she played 143 games, tallying 35 goals and adding 48 assists for a total of 83 points. In the program’s history, she ranks 10th all time in goals, 8th all time in assists, and 8th all time in points. She also brings some leadership experience, as during her senior year, she was an alternate captain on the team.

CONNECTICUT SIGNS UCONN GRADUATE CATHERINE CRAWLEY

Danbury, CT- The Connecticut Whale have added another forward to their lineup, signing rookie Catherine Crawley to a contract for the upcoming 2021-22 season.

Crawley marks the 13th player that the Whale have signed during this off-season.

“Catherine is a player that we’ve had our eye on following a stellar career at UConn,” said Connecticut assistant general manager and assistant coach Laura Brennan. “We love her enthusiasm and positive energy and are excited to have her join the Pod.”

The Washingtonville, New York native just wrapped up a strong campaign at the University of Connecticut. During her four years with the Huskies, she accumulated 83 points (35G, 48A) in 143 total games played. During her junior and senior seasons, she ranked second on the team in points, and she finished her UConn career ranked eighth in points, ninth in goals, and seventh in assists.

“She is a fast and creative forward who is able to make plays and bury pucks in the net,” added Brennan.

The 5’3” forward is also the fifth NWHL newcomer to join the Whale alongside 2021 draft picks Taylor Girard and Emma Polaski, plus free agents Kennedy Marchment and Allie Munroe. She’s the eighth forward the Pod has signed for Season 7 joining Emma Vlasic, Alyssa Wohlfeiler, Cailey Hutchison, and Janine Weber in addition to Girard, Polaski, and Marchment.

“I’m grateful to be a part of the Whale organization and so excited to be playing back in Connecticut again,” said Crawley. “I’m looking forward to learning from returning players, building on the team’s season from last year and helping to continue growing the game.”
