EMMA POLASKI JOINS THE WHALE
Danbury, CT- The Connecticut Whale’s second-round pick will be joining the team for the upcoming 2021-22 season.
Forward Emma Polaski, selected eighth overall in the 2021 NWHL Draft, has signed a contract with the Whale, the team announced on Tuesday. Polaski is especially excited to start her pro career with the Pod.
“I can’t think of a better organization than the Whale to have the opportunity to continue my hockey career with,” said Polaski. “I’m so excited to get on the ice with the team and begin Season 7!”
Polaski will join fellow 2021 draftee Taylor Girard, the franchise’s first-ever first overall pick, on the ice next year in addition to fellow forwards like top scorer Alyssa Wohlfeiler, returnee Emma Vlasic and free-agent addition Kennedy Marchment. The Connecticut coaching staff expects Polaski to bring a strong work ethic and knack for getting to the front of the net.
“Emma is a player that we knew we wanted to add early on this off-season which is why she was our second-round pick,” said assistant general manager and assistant coach Laura Brennan. “She is someone who has a tremendous work ethic on and off the ice. Her ability to get to the front of the net and finish plays is something that will be a huge asset to our team.”
Before joining the Whale, the Morristown, New Jersey native spent four years at Syracuse University. During her NCAA career, Polaski finished with 62 points in 128 games split evenly with 31 goals and 31 assists. She was also given a letter during her senior season, wearing the ‘A’ for the Orange.
Polaski and Girard were two of the team’s four picks on June 29 along with defender Hannah Bates (20th overall), and forward Grace Middleton (26th overall).
TXHT will continue to provide NWHL coverage as more signings and news are announced.
