Minnesota Wild @ Vegas Golden Knights
After a 1-0 overtime victory in game 1, the Minnesota Wild and Vegas Golden Knights got back together for the second game of this series. The same tight play from the previous game continued in the first period of this one. What was different was Minnesota dictated and dominated with many offensive chances compared to the first period last time. The Wild outshot the Golden Knights 17-10. Cam Talbot and Marc Andre Fleury continued to shine with their spectacular play in between the pipes. After the first period, the game would start off scoreless.
Period two saw things pick up offensively for these two teams. It would be Matt Dumba that opened up the scoring getting his first goal of the playoffs. Dumba fired a wrist shot that got through a screen and behind Golden Knights goalie Marc Andre Fleury to give Minnesota a 1-0 lead. However, that lead was very short-lived as Jonathan Marchessault tied the game eighteen seconds later as he fired a shot from the right face off circle that would beat Cam Talbot. Five minutes later, Vegas got their first lead of the series as Alex Tuch scored his first of the playoffs. Alex Pietramgelo shot the puck off Cam Talbot’s glove and then the puck went to Lucas Janmark who centered the pass to Tuch who buried the puck in the back of the net. After two periods, the Golden Knights would lead the Wild 2-1.
In the third and final period, Vegas was able to shutdown the Wild and even later on put the nail in the coffin as Alex Tuch added his second goal of the game on the power play. Marc Andre Fleury was fantastic and made 34 saves to get the victory. The series is now evened up 1-1 and heading to Minnesota as the Wild get their turn to host at home in the playoffs.
