- Boston Bruins v. Washington Capitals – Game 1 – 715p ET
- The Washington Capitals would host the Boston Bruins as they would open the Stanley Cup Playoffs with a tightly contested matchup. In the first period Tom Wilson would open the scoring for the Caps, but Jake DeBrusk would score to tie the game at one for the B’s. Then in the second period Brenden Dillon would unleash a bomb that would get past Tuukka Rask to regain the lead for the Caps, but Nick Ritchie would keep the B’s in it as he would tie the game at two. After a scoreless third period this game would go to overtime and less than five minutes into the extra frame Nic Dowd would deflect a TJ Oshie point blast through Rask to give the Capitals the 3-2 victory and the 1-0 series lead over the Bruins. Caps netminder Vitek Vanecek would get injured in the first period on the Debrusk goal, and Craig Anderson would come in relief and play spectacularly for the Capitals.
