Game Recaps

  • Philadelphia Flyers v. Buffalo Sabres – 1p ET
    • In Buffalo the Sabres would play host to the Philadelphia Flyers, and in the first period Sean Couturier would strike first for the Flyers. Then in the second period Shayne Gostisbehere and Scott Laughton would tally for the Flyers as they would take the 3-0 victory and give Brian Elliott his second straight shutout win.
  • Washington Capitals v. New Jersey Devils- 1p ET
    • In the first game of back to back afternoon games, the Washington Capitals would travel to New Jersey to take on the Devils. In the first period the Caps would hop onto the lead with goals from Garnet Hathaway, Daniel Sprong, and Lars Eller to take the 3-0 lead, but late in the period while on the powerplay Nico Hischier would score to cut the Caps lead to two. Then in the second period Pavel Zacha would score for the Devils to bring them within one, but in the third period the Caps would get goals from Jakub Vrana and Nic Dowd to take the 5-2 victory.
  • Calgary Flames v. Ottawa Senators – 1p ET
    • Up north the Ottawa Senators would host the Calgary Flames, and in the first period Drake Batherson would score for the Sens, but goals from Juuso Valimaki, Mikael Backlund, and Elias Lindholm would give the Flames the 3-1 lead. Then in the second period Colin White would score for the Sens, but it would be another three goal period for the Flames as Sean Monahan, Andrew Mangiapane, and Matthew Tkachuk would score for the 6-2 lead. In the third period Brady Tkachuk would score for the Sens, but the Flames would hold on for the 6-3 victory.
  • Columbus Blue Jackets v. Nashville Predators – 3p ET
    • In Nashville, the Columbus Blue Jackets would come to town to take on the Predators, and in the first period the Jackets would take the 1-0 lead with a Cam Atkinson tally. Then in the second period Mattias Ekholm would net a pair of goals to give the Predators the 2-1 victory.
  • Toronto Maple Leafs v. Edmonton Oilers – 7p ET
    • The Edmonton Oilers would play host to the Toronto Maple Leafs, and in the first period William Nylander and Mitch Marner would strike for the Leafs to take the 2-0 lead. Then in the second period Jason Spezza’s fifth of the season would grow the Toronto lead to three. Then in the third period Zach Hyman would strike to give the Leafs the 4-0 victory.
  • Pittsburgh Penguins v. New York Islanders – 7p ET
    • In Long Island the New York Islanders would face the Pittsburgh Penguins, and in the first period Brock Nelson would strike on the powerplay to give the Isles the 1-0 lead. Then in the second period Mathew Barzal would score to give the Isles the two goal lead, but moments later goals from Sidney Crosby and Kris Letang would tie the game at two for the Pens. However, Josh Bailey would score later in the second to give the Islanders the 3-2 lead. Then in the third period Jared McCann would strike 18 seconds into the period to tie the game at three, and send the game to overtime. In the extra frame, Letang’s second of the game would give the Penguins the 4-3 victory.
  • Dallas Stars v. Tampa Bay Lightning – 7p ET
    • The Dallas Stars would come to town as they looked to take on the Tampa Bay Lightning. In the first period Ondrej Palat would strike on the powerplay to give the Bolts the 1-0 lead. Then in the second period Anthony Cirelli, Brayden Point and Pat Maroon would score to grow the Lightning’s lead to four. In the third period the Bolts would continue to grow their lead as Steven Stamkos would net his tenth of the season and give the Lightning the 5-0 victory.
  • Carolina Hurricanes v. Florida Panthers – 7p ET
    • In another part of Florida, the Panthers look to calm the Carolina Hurricanes, and in the first period Vincent Trocheck’s 10th of the season while on the powerplay would give the Canes the 1-0 lead. Then after a scoreless second period Jake Bean would net his first career goal to give the Canes the 2-0 lead, but goals from Patric Hornqvist and Frank Vatrano would tie the game at two. But the Canes would strike back with a Warren Foegele tally to retake the lead, but Hornqvist’s second of the game would tie the game at three to send the game to overtime. After a scoreless extra frame, it would be Alexander Wennberg in the fifth round to give the Hurricanes the 4-3 victory.
  • Detroit Red Wings v. Chicago Blackhawks – 8p ET
    • In an Original Six battle between the Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings, it would be the Wings striking first as Bobby Ryan would net his sixth of the season to give Detroit the 1-0 lead. Then in the second period the Blackhawks would get a goal from Alex DeBrincat to tie the game at three, but tallies from Darren Helm and Christian Djoos would give the Wings the 3-1 lead. In the third, Evgeny Svechnikov gives the Red Wings a three goal lead. Chicago makes it a 4-2 game with a Mattias Janmark goal and Detroit seals the win with a Frans Nielsen goal to give the Red Wings a 5-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks.
  • Los Angeles Kings v. Minnesota Wild – 8p ET
    • In Minnesota the Wild would channel the spirit of the North Stars while the Los Angeles Kings embrace the 90’s with their colors of the 80’s in this Reverse Retro outing. In the first period Joel Eriksson Ek would net his 8th of the season, and Nico Sturm would score to give the Wild the 2-0 lead. In the second period Kirill Kaprizov would net his sixth of the season to grow the Wild’s lead to three, but tallies from Drew Doughty and Austin Wagner would bring the Kings back within one. In the third period, Adrian Kempe ties the game 3-3 with a PPG at 17:15 and in the overtime frame the Wild win the contest 4-3 with one second left when Matt Dumba scores his fourth goal of the season.
  • Colorado Avalanche v. Arizona Coyotes – 9p ET
    • In Glendale, the Coyotes look to win in their Reverse Retro jerseys. In the first period, Colorado takes the 1-0 lead when Nathan MacKinnon gets his fifth goal of the season. In the second period, Arizona ties the game with a Clayton Keller goal and the Avs re-take the lead when Jacob MacDonald gets his first goal of the season. As the contest shifts to the third period, Gabriel Landeskog, Joonas Donskoi, and Tyson Jost all score to give Colorado the 5-1 lead. Arizona brings the contest within three when Ilya Lyubushkin gets his first goal of the season. Colorado seals the victory when Pierre-Edouard Bellemare gets his first goal of the season as the Avs get the 6-2 win over the Coyotes.
  • Vegas Golden Knights – 10p ET
    • In Anaheim, Vegas looks to continue the dominance over the Anaheim Ducks and in the first period, Anaheim gets on the board first with a Rickard Rakell goal, his second on the season. Vegas ties the game when Alex Pietrangelo nets his second goal of the season. In the second period, Vegas takes the 2-1 lead when William Karlsson gets his fourth goal of the season. At 11:05 in the third period, Anaheim ties the contest with a goal by Adam Henrique, his fourth goal of the season. In overtime, Karlsson scores the game winner as the Golden Knights down the Ducks 3-2.
  • Montreal Canadiens v. Winnipeg Jets – 10p ET
    • In Winnipeg, Montreal looks to get back on the winning track. After a scoreless first period, Winnipeg gets on the board when Nikolaj Ehlers gets his 11th goal on the season and Montreal will answer when Nick Suzuki gets his fifth goal of the season to tie contest 1-1. In the overtime frame, Paul Stastny scores the game winner as the Jets get the 2-1 win over the Canadiens.
  • St. Louis Blues v. San Jose Sharks – 10:30p ET
    • In San Jose, the Sharks don their 30th season Heritage jerseys and in the first period, the Sharks strike 17 seconds into the game when Timo Meier gets his third goal of the season. St. Louis will tie the contest after a Marco Scandella goal, his first of the season. San Jose re-takes the lead when Evander Kane gets his sixth goal of the season. In the second period, Sammy Blais ties the game for the Blues with his second goal of the season. Meier gives the Sharks the lead once again with his second goal of the night. Brayden Schenn nets his 10th goal of the season as the Blues once again tie the game. The Sharks take the 4-3 lead when Evander Kane gets his second goal of the night. St. Louis makes it a 4-4 game after Zach Sanford gets his fourth goal of the season. The Blues take their first lead in the third period with a Mackenzie MacEachern goal, his first on the season. Kevin Lebanc ties the contest for the Sharks at 2:13. St. Louis takes the 6-5 lead with Ryan O’Reilly’s seventh goal of the season and the Sharks tie the game when Logan Couture gets his 11th goal of the season. St. Louis takes the 7-6 lead and win when Scandella gets his second goal of the contest at 7:14.
