Game Recap:
Coming into Game 2 of their best of three with the Buffalo Beauts, the Boston Pride look to even up the series and keep their season alive. In the first period Briana Mastel would get called for Body Checking to give the Beauts a powerplay opportunity, but the Pride would be up to the task and kill the penalty. In the first the Pride would also out shoot the Beauts 13 to 7.
Come the second period the Pride would wake up their offense starting with Mallory Souliotis 42 seconds into the period to kick things off. Then we wouldn’t see any scoring again until the final two minutes of the period when McKenna Brand and Sammy Davis would both score to give the Pride the commanding three goal lead. Both teams however would trade powerplay opportunities, but neither team would be able to capitalize on them. In the shot department, the Beauts would respond to giving up the first goal and create more opportunities at forcing the play as they would out shoot the Pride 16 to 11.
Come the third period the Pride would keep up with the scoring as in a span of 4 minutes they would score another three goals. Starting at the 2:37 mark Souliotis would net her second of the game to grow the Pride’s lead to four and also chase Carly Jackson from the Beauts crease. Even with Caty Flagg coming in to relieve Jackson, it would still be all Pride as Lauren Kelly and Meghara McManus would both score to give the Pride the commanding 6-0 victory and even the series at one.
