Marleau Returns to Sharks

In a move that doesn’t really shock anyone, but the San Jose Sharks have announced that Patrick Marleau has signed with the team for the 2020-21 season.

The contract is a one year deal worth $700k.

Marleau, 41, will be returning to the Sharks after being traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Trade Deadline back in February. During the 2019-20 season Marleau would record 10 goals and 10 assists for 20 points in 58 games played with the Sharks. Then after the being traded to Pittsburgh Marleau would record one goal and one assist for two points in eight games played. Marleau registered zero points in four games played in the Return to Play for the Penguins.

For Marleau, this contract also means that if plays 45 games during the 2020-21 season, then he will pass Gordie Howe for the NHL Record of games played (1,767). Marleau currently ranks fifth at 1,723 games played.
