Game Recap
For Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals the New York Islanders look to even the series at two games a piece, but the Tampa Bay Lightning look to follow the Dallas Stars lead and take the 3-1 series lead. In the first period the Lightning would out shoot the Islanders 11 to 5, and while they dominated they play, the Lightning could not capitalize on the lone powerplay of the period. However, at buzzer to end the first, Matt Martin would shoot the puck on net to spark some fireworks between the two teams.
In the second period we would see an explosion of goals in a 27 second time span as Brock Nelson would open the scoring for the Islanders to take the 1-0 lead 11:27 into the second, but the Lightning would strike back instantly as Blake Coleman and Ondrej Palat would score 12 seconds apart to give Tampa the 2-1 lead at 11:54 of the period. After the goal explosion both teams would trade powerplay opportunities, but neither team would be able to capitalize on their powerplays.
Come the third period the Lightning would strike again as their top line would work their magic as Brayden Point would score to give the Lightning the 3-1 lead, and then late in regulation Pat Maroon would hit the empty netter to give Tampa the 4-1 victory.
