Pavelski’s Hat Trick Helps Propel Stars

Dallas Stars v. Calgary Flames

Game 3 – First Round

 

The two teams sported the following lineups:

Calgary:

Dallas:

 

First Period:

The only scoring of the first period was from Dallas, when Joe Pavelski put one past Cam Talbot on the power play late in the first.

Both teams took two penalties, and Dallas’s ability to convert resulted in them taking a 1-0 lead into the second.

 

Second Period:

Johnny Gaudreau tied the game at 1 early in the second.

The lead was short lived when Pavelski notched his second of the game less than two minutes later.

Less than a minute left Sam Bennett scored his fourth of the playoffs for the Flames to tie the game at 2, and later in the period put in another to give the Flames a 3-2 lead.

Denis Gaurianov tied the game for Dallas at 3 later in the third.

 

Third period:

Tied 3-3 going in to the third, this had all the makings of an overtime game. Each team scored one each, with Tobias Rieder putting the Flames up 4-3 with a shorthanded goal.

Joe Pavelski’s hat trick pulled the Stars even with less than 15 seconds left to send the game to overtime.

 

Overtime:

After some good action, John Klingberg gave the Stars the game.

 

The series is tied 2-2 with game 5 Tuesday at an as-of-yet undetermined time.
