Montreal Canadiens vs Philadelphia Flyers (Flyers lead series 2-1)
The Philadelphia Flyers look to redeem themselves after being shutout previously in game 2 against the Montreal Canadiens. Philadelphia would get on the scoreboard first as Jakub Voracek would too in a shot from Claude Girioux to give the Flyers a 1-0 lead. Montreal was on their heels defensively as they had to kill off some penalties but were able to hold off the Flyers from scoring any further. Voracek’s goal would stand as the only goal of the first period.
Montreal did start to turn things up a bit in the second period. They out shot the Flyers and had some power-play opportunities. However, they were unable to get any pucks behind Flyers goaltender Carter Hart. Philadelphia would keep their lead going into the third period.
In the final period, it would be a very close and tight rest of the game. Montreal was unable to get anything by Carter Hart and his defense as they shut the Canadiens down for the rest of the game. Jakub Voracek’s goal would stand as the game winner and Carter Hart became the youngest Flyers goalie to get a playoff shutout as he made 23 saves.
