Chicago Blackhawks vs Vegas Golden Knights (VGK leads series 3-0)
Game Recap:
Since winning in overtime on Thursday night, the Vegas Golden Knights hope to take a commanding 3-0 series lead over the Chicago Blackhawks tonight with a victory. In the first period, the Blackhawks would outshoot the Knights and have more power player opportunities. However, they couldn’t capitalize on their scoring opportunities. Vegas would get on the board first as William Karlsson would score a short handed goal as his team was on the penalty kill. Mark Stone caused a turnover in the defensive zone before feeding the puck to Karlsson who would shoot the puck backhanded that went behind Hawks goaltender Corey Crawford. Karlsson’s goal would be the only one of the first period.
Period two saw the Golden Knights dictate most of the play of the period. They continued to make things challenging for the Blackhawks & showed why they’re considered to be a deep team. Patrick Brown scored his first goal of the playoffs and first of his career for the Knights in the second period. Brown put the puck in the back of the net off of a rebound off goalie Corey Crawford’s pads. After two periods, the Golden Knights would lead 2-0 over the Blackhawks.
Chicago was able to get within one goal in the third period as Olli Matta lead the rush and snapped a shot from the left circle that would get by Golden Knights goalie Marc Andre Fleury. However, it wouldn’t be enough as the Knights and especially Marc Andre Fleury (26 saves) shut the door on any chance of the Blackhawks tying the game. Tomorrow night, the Golden Knights have a chance to sweep and eliminate the Chicago Blackhawks from the playoffs.
