Calgary Flames vs Dallas Stars (CGY leads series 2-1)
Game Recap:
After last night’s thrilling finish, the Calgary Flames and Dallas Stars are back at it again for game three with the series tied 1-1. The Stars won last night as Jamie Oleksiak scored the game winner with forty seconds left in the game. Tonight, Calgary would be without one of its best players in winger Matthew Tkachuk due to an injury in last night’s game. The first period of this game was pretty evenly matched between the two teams. Both the Flames and Stars trades some scoring chances and neither could convert on their lone power play chance. The game remained scoreless at the end of the first period.
In the second period, Calgary got on the board first. Mikael Backlund chased after a loose puck on the penalty kill, took the puck to the net, and tucked it by goalie Anton Khudobin for a short handed goal. Backlund’s goal would be the only one scored as the Flames would take a 1-0 lead into the third period.
About midway through the third period, the Flames would add on the extra insurance goal they needed as TJ Brodie bombed a shot from the point into the back of the net to seal the victory for the Flames as they went on to win 2-0. Cam Talbot was solid in net as he made 35 saves to earn the shutout victory. The Calgary Flames take a 2-1 series lead heading into game 4 on Sunday afternoon.
