Stanley Cup Preview – Boston Bruins

As second training camp is underway, the Boston Bruins look to pick up where they left off as they aim to continue their domination of the Eastern Conference towards another Stanley Cup.

Record: 44-14-12 100 points

1st Place in the Eastern Conference

The Boston Bruins would be the only team in the NHL to reach 100 points before the pause back in March, and will look to continue their winning ways once play resumes for the Stanley Cup.

On offense the Bruins were led by David Pastrnak who would register 48 goals and 47 assists for 95 points, and linemate Brad Marchand wasn’t far behind with 28 goals and 59 assists for 87 points. Patrice Bergeron (31g, 25a, 56p) and David Krejci (13g, 30a, 43p) were key contributors once again despite missing some time due to injuries. Charlie Coyle (16g) and Jake DeBrusk (19g) would be the other two players to score 15 or more goals for the Bruins this season.

On defense Torey Krug led all defenders in scoring with 9 goals, 40 assists and 49 points. Charlie McAvoy would register 5 goals, 27 assists for 32 points while Matt Grzelcyk (4g, 17a, 21p), Brandon Carlo (4g, 15a, 19p), and captain Zdeno Chara (5g, 9a, 14p) would remain steady forces for the Bruins blueline.

Between the pipes for the Bruins, 2020 Vezina Trophy finalist Tuukka Rask will man the crease after going 26-8-6 with a 2.12 GAA and a .929 save percentage in 41 games started. Jaroslav Halak (18-6-6) will serve as the backup to Rask.
